Default Free Internet Security Settings ??

Using latest version of ZA free Internet Security 9.3.037.000

It appears since using this I've had more intrusions than normally had over the last few years.

Once a week I do a Malware check and often find various ones in my Application Data, then I do a ComboFix clean to clear any files and folders connected. I already have my Host file set as read only, but still one gets in and although no warning flags up. I get suspected when IE8 starts to freeze etc.

My question, in the Custom Firewall Settings for the Trusted and Internet Zone there are settings for authorized program traffic through the various incomings and outgoings.

Could anyone advise the settings to help eliminate these malwares etc getting into my Docu & Settings, Apllication Data folder.

    Thanks

    Hi!
sorry, ZAfree does not come with virus protection. Also there is no ZAfree 9.3.037.000

Right click the ZA icon near the clock, click on "about". Push on "copy to clipboard", paste the information in the reply so that we can determine which version of ZA are you using.

Please note that Combofix is not a tool you can use in isolation from others to clean your system since it has a limited scope and does not cover many different types of infections. You may still infected.

    Cheers,

    Hi!
first you need to follow ALL steps here below to ensure your system is clean.

    Malware Clean-up Guidance

Then, please review the recommandation below to ensure maximum protection. Since you are running a trial I would suggest you move up to ZA Extreme instead that provides an overall increased protection of your web browser.

xyz was not detected. What I should do?

ZA firewall trusted zone should be kept to MEDIUM (default) and ZA internet zone to HIGH (default).

    Thanks,

Already done scan with Malwarebytes in safe mode and ESET Online scanner and found nothing.

The both zones are at default, but in the Trusted custom settings the only box ticked is 'Allow broadcast/multicast' and in Internet Zones the same and also 'Block incoming NetBIOS (ports 135,137-9,445)

I thought more would be needed to be ticked to help stop unwanted intrusion with Malware/Virus etc.

    thanks again

No, default settings are fine. Modification suggested have limited scope and can cause problems. The trusted zone should be kept as it is.

Online scanner mentioned was not really mentioned in the malware guidance. Please follow all suggestions already given as well as the link on how to maximise your security

Sorry, comments related to other security products are offtopic and needed to go. If you are not happy with ZA and feel more comfortable with other solutions feel free to move. Its very important you feel secure rather than starting tweaking the tools without really knowing what could help.

    Thanks,
