    Default Connection speed

    In another thread (now a sticky and closed) I said that my computer practically comes to a standstill when ZoneAlarm is updating. Since this started happening the connection speed on my computer has dropped dramatically. For example, I can no longer watch YouTube videos as they download. It is currently taking five minutes to download a thirty second video. It also took two hours to download a file that previously would have taken a matter of minutes. Is this a coincidence or are the two connected?

    I'm sorry your still having a problem..

    However, I think the MODERATOR has already given you the official Responce in the CLOSED Thread that you mentioned..

    There really nothing right now that can be done. Besides a new PC and OS.

    The new PC's on the market and Win 7 nowadays handle this better, but its still not perfect.

    In the next major release of ZA in 2011 we will be getting a whole new AV engine and update system from Kaspersky which THEY claim will help speed updates up as much as 40%. This may not address the issue of your PC not being used during the update but it should shorten the time of the update a little bit.

    Unless your Upgrade to Windows 7, I think you will have to wait for the Next Release of Zone Alarm in 2011..

    I noted the reply. The thing is I do not have Kaspersky. As I said, I have not downloaded any new programmes for ages. The problem just suddenly appeared quite recently.

    It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country,
    without All the Details,without the ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..

    NOTE: ZA AV, ZA Security Suite and ZA Extreme Security all three come with Kaskersky Anti-Virus engine imbeded in Zone Alarm.

    can you post possibly a little more information about your computer configuration and what the steps there are to reproduce the problem?

    Also:
    What ZA type (Free/Pro/AV/Suite/Extreme) and version # ?

    Kaspersky is in any ZA version with the antivirus portion.
