Default Any recent problems with upgrading to 9.3.014 ?

    Greetings to all,

Having read the forum, I realized that in the summer time there were problems associated with upgrading ZA products to version 9.3.014.
I have ZAP ver. 9.1.008 on my Win XP pro SP3 machine and I wonder should I
be worried about upgrading to the new version. Were there any problems reported lately?
My current ZAP doesn't include ForceField because it gave me nothing but problems so I chose not to install it.

I am inclined to upgrade because my IE 8 doesn’t start quickly and the new ZAP version is supposed to deal with that, although I am not sure that the current slowness of my IE
is indeed caused by the ZAP.

Now suppose I do get problems when I upgrade, what are the exact steps of the roll back procedure? I still have my previous installation file.

    Hello;

The safest procedure to Upgrade to Zone Alarm Pro 9.3.037:

1.) Download the Latest installer preferably with IE Browser and (no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire, Bit-Torrent, uTorrent) and save it to your Hard drive.

(MultiPlatform, installer will install on Both WinXP SP3 and Vista and Windows7)

Click Here ==> ZoneAlarm Pro firewall updates

NOTE: if you have not installed Zone Alarm before, then Skip down to step 5.)

2.) Before you Uninstall your current ZA, UNcheck "Load ZA... at startup" (under Overview - Preferences tab)

3.) Reboot the Computer. So that vsmon.exe/TrueVector will be removed from Memory

4.) Now Uninstall Zone Alarm using Windows Uninstall or on Windows 7 , Control Panel/Uninstal a program option.

5.) Now Install the new update (clean Install) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..

6.) To Go back to ZA Pro 9.1 (Repeat Steaps 2. thru Step 5. )

    Thanks, Guru GeorgeV
What about all my preferences? How do I export them to the new ZAP?

Personally, since there have been many changes and improvements between ZA Pro 9.1 and ZA Pro 9.3.037.000,

I would strongly Recomend that you start with a CLEAN install,
and allow Zone Alarm to setup the Default setting to start with as a few of your old setting may conflict with new setting..

    as I stated in Step # 5..

5.) Now Install the new update (clean Install) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..

If you back up your settings before uninstalling, (preferences, backup) and save the xml file in some suitable folder, then after the clean install of the new version you can reimport them (preferenhces, restore, navigate to where you have saved the .xml backup file).
