Default [SOLVED] New User Account Not Running ZA Free --> registry pemission

Just loaded version 9.2.102.000 on a newly installed Windows 7 computer and everything seems to work just fine, but when I add a new user account and logon to it, I get the Zone Alarm Control Center window, but the window is empty and it doesn't minimize to the system tray. I've tried rebooting and even uninstalling and reinstalling under the new user's account, same result.

I'm sure that this is a simple issue and I'm just missing something. Anybody have any ideas.

    Thanks,

Does ZA have the right permission to system registry?

I think we're onto something with the permissions in the registry keys. Now when I go to change the permissions on the keys (anything from adding a user to set the permissions, to taking ownership) I get the message "Unable to save permission on Zone Labs. Access is denied". I can change the permissions on any other key in the same subkey. I guess Zone Labs has done something real exotic keep the keys from being changed.

    Any clues?

    Thanks for the help

    Got it!!

First, figured out that you can't edit a registry setting that's in use and Zone Alarm is running, so, I guess it's in use. Booted up in Safe Mode logged into the new user account.

Second, the suggestion about the Registry Key Permissions was spot on (thanks Sean). I added the Group "Users" with Full Control, then rebooted the computer, logged in as the new user and now ZA is running for that user.

If this is a bug then Check Point should look into a fix.

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

Not really. Something else has changed permissions, ZA don't do that.

I am glad anyway your issue is solved and thank you for taking the time to report back. Will close this thread since the problem is resolved. Do not hesitate to open a new thread for any other ZA related issue.
