Default yahoo widget on ZA Free 9.2.076

When I set up a yahoo widget, it not only disabled my AVG - it also reset all ZoneAlarm settings. ONLY yahoo is allowed to access the net and has TOTALLY unrestricted server access as well for over 30 yahoo variant programs. I yanked the dsl wire and canceled ALL yahoo access and deleted all yahoo widget from my computer. I also deleted all YIM and all other yahoo files from my computer (here and at home). I have manually re-entered the programs that I wish to have access and manually locked out everything else - again. Is there no way to 'lock' the setings the user decides on? And how the 4377 did yahoo do what it did? Is there a hole in ZoneAlarm? I will be asking the same question at AVG as this is a very serious security threat in my opinion. Has anyone else experienced this? I searched for yahoo widget and got no hits here, so am posting this here. If it is in the wrong spot, please move it and accept my apologies.
    Regards

I'm Sorry, I had to Delete part of your post, several Coments that you made Violated the Terms of Use Policy of this ZA Forum..

But I will try to Answer your Request as it Relates to Zone Alarm..

Your Question may be better resolved on the Yahoo Widget Support Forum, since this Forum is designed ONLY to handle Zone Alarm Problem..

1.) I have several of the Yahoo Widgets on all (5) of my computers co-existing with Zone Alarm, with Windows XP SP3, Vista SP2 and Windows 7, 32-bit and 65-bit computers with no problem or conflict..

2.) it may be possible that you downloaded a Hacked or corrupted version of the Yahoo Widget engine if you did not download if directly from Yohoo.com?

3.) same thing goes for the available Widgets, however, there is a Warning on the Widget link that some of the more exotic widgets are not created by Yahoo and to use at your own risk..

4.) 'Is there a hole in ZoneAlarm? " NO, there is nothing wrong with Zone Alarm,
You By-passed the ZA Firewall protection when you accept the Download and Install a Program..

5.) If you did not download those Widget directly from Yahoo, they may have been infected or Hacked versions..

Please Check with Yahoo Widget Support site..

Hello and thank you for your reply. I was not aware that I had violated any rules, thank you again for deleting the portion(s) of my message that were in violation.

I should think that a few details of my system may help clear up my first message a bit, so here goes:

Dell Inspiron 1520 - 4GB dual channel (3.5 accessible to windows) - Intel Core 2 Duo
    M$ Winoze XP - SP3 (all updates)
    Firefox (Mozilla) 3.6.13
    ZoneAlarm 9.2.076.000
    AVG 10.0.1191

The widget and control program were both downloaded from yahoo.com as I only download from the issuing site to avoid virii / hackerware. This has been my best defense for years. AVG showed no infections - or I would not have installed the widget / control program.

After I installed a clean copy of AVG a FULL scan showed no problems. Spybot Search & Destroy also found no problems. Startup Monitor prevents anything form adding a service to start with the computer, and it shows nothing new running. Neither does System Mechanic or MSConfig. A clean copy of ZoneAlarm is also running just in case.

I back-up all critical data daily to an offline 1Tb hdd. It has been scanned by AVG (no errors) on this computer and by Norton (on my other system) also with no errors.

If I have overlooked something, I really do not know what it would be. But SOMETHING de-activated AVG and over-ruled my program settings in ZoneAlarm. Luckily I caught yahoo before any damage was done or any information was transmitted. A GRC Shields UP tests shows all ports as fully cloaked and my computer as being 'invisible to the internet'. The ONLY new program was yahoo and the widget from yahoo (in the last 3 months 11 days anyway).

I hope that this information will help diagnose the problem. If more information on my system or my daily activities on the computer(s) will help further, please ask. I really want to find the issue. I have warned all my associates and friends to stay away from yahoo & their widgets as a prudent precaution.

    Regards
    Stan T

    * note - Not sure why this security issue was moved to the yahoo forum, but it is not my web site.

As I suggested in my previous Reply, I suggest Notifying the Widget Tech Support on Yahoo Web Site..

There may be a problem with the Particular Widgets that you downloaded from them..

We Only Discuss Problems caused by Zone Alarm interfacing with your version of Windows..
