Smile PC Freezing Up After Installing ZA Free

Hi, everyone. We've used ZA Free in the past & it's always worked fine. This time, I tried to install it on our PC & it froze up. I've turned it off & on four times & it freezes as soon as it gets to the desktop, so, I'm not able to uninstall ZA, let alone, anything else.

It's an AMD Athlon. About eight or so years old.

    ~~snip~~

Bottom line, how can I, either get ZA to work, without, the computer freezing or be able to uninstall it? This is a new issue for us, but, I'm sure someone else has faced it before. I appreciate the assistance.

    Hi!
try to manual remove ZA as indicated here below. Choose your OS.

I cannot find or run the ZoneAlarm uninstall program (Vista)

Hi, Fax. I apologize for not responding sooner. I wanted to thank you for your help. I followed the steps & at first, it was still freezing, but, then it was fine again.

I had tried working in safe mode & even though I can now do things in the normal setting, I'm still mainly using safe with networking. It doesn't affect anything I do online & in fact, the computer is much faster, enabling me to get more done. Before it was so slow, freezing & either windows would close out on their own or I had to, to get it restarted. Until we are able to get another computer, I think I'll stay with safe.

I haven't tried installing ZA again. Reluctant to add anything, at this point, not knowing what it might do to the computer.

There is certainly something wrong on the system. You can't work in SAFE MODE since most of the services will be disabled.

Your OS could be corrupted or you may have your PC infected by malware. I would suggest not using the PC for any activity that regard shopping, banking or credit card use.

Whenever you have time you should format the system and reinstall the OS fresh from original CDs. Update the system with all latest patches and SPs and install a good security suite for the protection.

    Sorry,
