Default [SOLVED] CertCheck.dll problem on installation?

I downloaded the latest version of the free zone alarm (92_102_000 )today.

I tried to install it on a new machine, but am getting the following error message:
"Can not load DLL Library. C;\Documen~1\User\locals~1\temp\021311205009\CertC heck.dll. The system cannot find the file specified."

CertCheck.dll does exist at the location mentioned.

I can't find any zonealarm stuff in the registry.

The system configuration is as follows:

    ASUSP6X58D-E mainboard
    i7-950 CPU
    4GB Ram
    ATI video board
Win XP SP3 with ALL updates applied to date.
    MacAfee 8.5 with latest SDAT
    No other software installed yet.

Any help would be great, this is driving me nuts!

Found both those threads with a search before posting this. Neither helped sadly. The cpes_clean tool gave an exception when I tried it. None of the files listed in the other solution nor the registry entries were present.

I'm going to try a full reinstall of XP now, thats how desperate I am at this stage!

Now I wonder am I better off installing windows updates before retrying zonealarm again....

It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country, without All the Details about your computer and Software that you failed to provide, without our ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..

It is always advisable to fully update Windows XP to (SP3) level plus the dozens of added updates that were released after Service Pack 3, before installing Zone Alarm..

Also, after Windows XP is fully updated, Install Zone Alarm First and Keep all the ZA Default Settings, before installing any other Security Software..

The issue you are facing is due to ZA left overs in the system. If you are not able to remove all temp files and ZA left overs you will get that message. If the removal tool give that warning then I would suggest there are more problems than ZA on the system.

For security I would also check for malware:

Fully reinstall XP from original disk, then turn ON windows firewall, after fully update XP with all patches and SPs and only then install your antivirus solution and ZA.

    Good luck!
