Thread: Whitelist a program from AV?

Question Whitelist a program from AV?

I want to exempt FRAPS from being monitored/scanned with ZA. Why? Because I have a feeling it slows down, considerably, the writing of recorded files. As it is, I have ZA check files as they are read/written. FRAPS writes around 1GB every few seconds and I think that's too much. The files are safe as they are video files (AVI) of games I'm playing - FRAPS is a benchmark tool that also records video from games. Since I'm still online when playing these days, I'd rather (not at all) switch off ZA completely. Maybe use game mode?

I may try that, but I'd still like to know if there's a way to whitelist a program (and any data it writes) from the real-time AV scanner? I'd like fraps.exe to be left alone. Then, it can write it's 1GB - 20GB and larger files much quicker.

I also read what game mode does and am not convinced if the AV stops the real-time scan of written files? Does it? Does using game mode stop the real-time AV scans?
