Default Can specific ports be opened with ZoneAlarm Security Suite

I've been struggling to get the math software, Maxima, to function on my machine (WinXP Pro). The problem with it not starting has come down to interference from ZoneAlarm Security Suite. I've given the various application executables permission in the Program Control table, but Maxima still fails to start up.

However, if I completely uninstall ZoneAlarm Security Suite, Maxima starts up.

There must be a port being blocked. Is there anyway to explicitly release a port for a specific application, in ZoneAlarm Security Suite?
