    Exclamation Backdoor access to Datalock

    Hi People,
Is there “backdoor” access to Datalock?

I found this on the net when looking for reviews on Datalock.

    ~snip~
Are there so called “Encryption Breaking Tools” available to authorities to access the data in Datalock?
Can you install Datalock without sending the password to Zone Alarm?
Can you change password without sending the password to Zone Alarm?

    Regards,

    Hello,

DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE INTERNET.

There is no "Back Door" access to DataLock at all.

ZoneAlarm and Check Point do not provide any data decryption tools to any persons or governments or government agencies.

We have no such tool internally. So in the event of something catastrophic and you cant access your data even we cant get it out for you. Its been lost.

The password is never sent to us in the first place.

You can opt out of uploading a security file to us (which does not contain your password) But if you forget your password we cant reset your password without the security file. So in that case you loose all your data

    Hi,
    Thanks for the answer.
I have just installed the trial version and all working well.
No impact on system speed, donít even know its running.
Boot time near same as before.
This looks much better than container encryption I was using.

    Questions.
How do you (zonealarm) reset the password with the security file if the system will not start because I forgot the password?

When I buy this how do I put the new reg key in?
I canít find a place to type it in.

    Hello,

If you forget your password you will contact support and your asked a series of security questions to verify your identity. Only the person who purchased and registered the software is allowed to reset a password.
After that support will work through a procedure to reset your password.
This is proprietary and is not discussed.

At this time you must uninstall/decrypt the drive to put your new key in the software.

Only time it can be typed in is during install with the current version.
