    Question ZA Xtreme AV Scanning Stuck

    Za Xtreme stuck on boot scan...for hours with no progress. Scan mode currently set to quick scan. It found a virus a few days ago, exploit.java.cve-2010-0094.x and it was quarantined. I noticed scans stalling after that. Uninstalled and re-installed Xtreme and scans were good for a day, now back to this..not following schedule either. Cannot cancel scan...it pauses for a min then resumes and if You kill ZA and re-open it starts scan all over again.

    Can you complete a scan if you boot your PC in SAFE MODE with networking?
    You may still have left overs from a virus infection or malware have damaged your boot sectors.

    Also which exact version of ZA Extreme are you using? Have you installed other security tools? If yes, which one?

    There could be an issue with the boot sector of your hard drive its scanning.

    If you used any programs to setup or modify your drives partitions that could be the issue.

    There also could be some damage done by a virus to the boot sector.

    Try what Guru Fax suggested is a good start.

    Unfortunately I did not get as far as scanning in safe mode, although I had to safe boot to uninstall ZA which was the latest 9.3.037.000. I uninstalled again and am a guinea pig for ZA X 10 Beta..it said that one virus was treated on install, but no info on log. Everything smooth so far.....no other software on the system. I'll post update, thanks!

    Follow all the steps as detailed in the malware guidance post to ensure you are fully clean. Today malware can be very destructive and difficult to clean.

    ZA will not fully initiate in safe mode. Tried a few times and it never gets past protection initializing.

    Did you selected SAFE MODE with networking and not just safe mode?
    If it will not work, I am afraid there is something else than ZA not working there.
