Default adobe flash and Zonealarm free> upgrade Flash & ZA

I am using ZA free version 9.2.057.000 same version for truevector security engine and driver version 9.2.032.000 .

Adobe flash version is 10.2.153.1 .

ZA is configured to ask when flash wants to access Internet - I get a pop-up asking me to update flash but there is no notice just above the system tray asking if flash can go "outside".

This concerns me because adobe flash and reader have a history of instability and security flaws based on http://www.us-cert.gov/ .

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

I'd post a screenshot but attachments aren't allowed in this forum.

    Thanks.

two things I see from your Post is that you are using OLD Adobe Flash Software.. Current update is:
Adobe Flash Player 10.2.159.1 (2.74 MB)

    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Also old Zone Alarm Free Software.. Current Update Version is 9.2.106.000

    Same problem as here:
    http://forums.zonealarm.com/showpost.php?p=287005

You need to investigate exactly which process is checking for updates in order to then blocking it in ZA (use TCPview). Also you need to turn OFF ZA smartdefense otherwise known good applications will automatically be given access. Adobe may use other processes to connect then you will need to block also them. ZAfree lacks of certain program control features and you may be not easily find how to do it.

And yes, security wise more than blocking flash updating you should care to keep your system updated.

    Check your PC with this.

mikealte, Follow the advice from Gurus GeorgeV & fax.

Adobe Flash Player version 10,2,159,1 is current.

Before you install Flash Player for any Windows browser, uninstall all previous Flash Player versions and restart your computer. Follow these steps.

    3. Uninstall previous versions of Flash Player at this link :

    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_1916...main_Uninstall

Adobe Flash Player uninstaller at this link :

    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...ash_player.exe

Then, " Download Flash Player with the manual installer " at this link :

    Footnote :

I download and install both Flash Player 10 ActiveX (Internet Explorer) and Flash Player 10 Plugin.I use Firefox/3.6.17 mainly.

    Have a nice Day
