    Default zonealarm compatible disk utilities

Hello, I recently upgraded to ZoneAlarm Extreme Security and I am looking for system and disk tools that are compatible. I used systemsuite for years though the latest zonealarm is not compatible.

I wondered what tools there are that are compatible and provide system and disk diagnostics?

Try the "PC Tune-up" utility that is a part of Zone Alarm Extreme..

Sorry for the late reply... I checked the link and I see System Mechanic listed. Has it been tested with ZoneAlarm Extreme? I have been reading up on recommended maintenance for Windows 7 and may not need anything more than system monitors for error checking.

No, it causes compatibility problems across different versions.
Generally these utilities are more damaging than beneficial. This is across many of them. Registry editing is a sensitive operation and only MS utlities should be used. This also applies to defrag utlities.

In other words, less you touch your system files, better it is. And if you really need to do it then use MS tools only. Best approach when you have system problems. Reainstall the OS fresh, updated it, reinstall the software and not touch anymore anything with tools other than MS.

One that is unlikely to cause problems is ccleaner that cleans also the registry. This is used by million of users, its free and generally not aggressive. But still the above applies.

    Thanks,
    Fax

Is there a list of recommended tools then?

I have ccleaner, zonealarm, mbam and superantispyware for protecting the system. Though for system I could use some compatible tools for diagnosing errors and hardware.
