    Default [SOLVED] Massive Upgrade problems

I have a 3 licence ZAES subscription, recently renewed again for the 7th year.

The upgrade on the laptop went fine.

Tonight I decided to do the desktop. Three and half hours later I'm in here pulling my hair out !!!

Desktop is Vista Ultimate, Fully updated.

I got the prompt from ZAES that there was an upgrade, I dl'd it. I hit run, it unpacked, then threw up the new install screen.

I accepted the EULA, choose my install options (toolbar, search etc), the hit next.

Off it went uninstalling the prev. version, then said it needed a restart. Hit restart, it shuts, it starts and the ZAES new install screen appears and ticks through each of it's objectives (conf, spam etc) - then just before it starts to scan boot sector etc, I get an alert pop up saying true vector has stopped working. I click close, the new ZAES screen continues to scan boot sector and give me the thumbs up thats its been installed and all is ok.

I click finish, a few seconds later I get a ZAES window pop up that is completly blank:

    see picture here: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...eat=directlink

I've done system restore, it gave me back a fully working previous version of ZAES except it had no GUI what so ever. Again all blank.

I've tried clean.exe twice, system restore twice, nothing works.

    Any ideas please?

Welcome to the Zone Alarm User Forum..

This Forum exist to allow Volunteer experienced Zone Alarm Users to help the Few Users who encounter a problem with ZoneAlarm and need to be guided in the right direction..

    Note:
It is normally Helpful when posting here to give full details of your computer setup.

Give the Exact Type and version of Zone Alarm used, Windows Version used, other security tools installed.

It looks like your Upgrade Download may Have been Corrupted durring the Download or install proccess.

The Best Fix for this problem is to Uninstall the Corrupte Version.. and download a fresh copy of ZA 10.0.246.000 and do a Clean re-install.

The safest procedure is to :

1.) Download the Latest installer preferably with IE Browser and (no Download Manager/accelerator like Get-Right, Livewire, Bit-Torrent, uTorrent) and save it to your Hard drive.

    https://support.zonealarm.com/index....n-of-zonealarm

2.) Now Uninstall Zone Alarm using Windows Uninstall or on Windows 7 , Control Panel/Uninstal a program option.

Or (you can Download the ZA Removal Tool: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...load/clean.exe

3.) Now Install the new update (clean Install) and Accept the default Setting, Auto-Learn Mode and Choose Trusted Zone, not Internet Zone..

*** NOTICE: Please note that ZAAV, ZASS and ZAXS do not play nice with many overlapping security tools (even if disabled).

Well that one seemed to work - hopefully (see picture)

I used IE (no add-ons) to dl both items: clean.exe and ZAES 10

    Ran clean.exe, did re-start.

Ran ZAES 10 and again got the True Vector error:

    https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...eat=directlink

Closed the alert window and ZAES carried on. The only thing i did different was to cancel the 'scan boot and memory' that was taking place and it then gave me a wonderful 'enter licence key' window, which i did and it says all is ok - which is a relief.

    Thanks
