Default [SOLVED] avast blocked --> Proxy settings

I have just noticed in Log Viewer that there is one item that is blocked on every bootup.
It is outgoing, has a different Destination IP each time and has a Destination DNS of something like a692sm.avast.com. The 692sm part changes each time. It is blocked by the rule ExtBlockAll2, whatever that is.

    I am using Windows 7.

Can anyone tell me what this item is and what should be done about it?

It could be due to the internet connection only available at the end of the booting process thus DNS calls are not answered and then dropped due to lack of response. Does Avast updates correctly after boot?

If not, ensure your DNS is set as TRUSTED in the ZA firewall zones, the loopback adapter (127.0.0.0) is included as trusted too and that all avast components in the ZA program control are given the green check on accessing the trusted and internet zones.

Finally it could also be an issue with corrupted ZA databases (where ZA settings are stored). Try to reset them.

    Thanks,
    Fax
P.S. It would also be useful to know which version of ZA free you are using. Ensure you are on the latest 9.2.106.000

Thanks fax for your comprehensive reply.

I have found that the problem was the Proxy settings of Avast anti-virus. It was set to "Auto Detect" instead of "Direct connection (no proxy)". I think that the blocked item must have been Avast trying to look for a proxy server.

Your answer was much appreciated, vicdaz
