    Default Issue W/ZoneAlarm Extreme And MS Publisher

    I am having an issue when I try to do a copy and paste from one Microsoft Publisher (2007) document to another. When I do this I get a message "Windows is low on memory. To free up memory, save your work and close other programs; then continue working."

    My configuration:
    Window 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    HP Desktop Computer 2.80GHz w/8.0 GB memory 1T HD

    ZoneAlarm Setup:
    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version: 10.0.250.000
    vsmon version: 10.0.250.000
    Driver version: 10.0.217.000
    Anti-virus engine version: 8.1.8.79
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version: 1058219648
    ZoneAlarm Browser Security: 1.5.322.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner: 1.5.322.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Anti-Phishing Database: 1.2.104.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database: 04.155

    No other Security products are currently installed.

    I had this problem also with version 10.0.240.0 so I uninstalled Zonealarm and installed Norton Internet Security and the problem went away. Since I prefer ZoneAlarm, when I saw a newer version I installed the current version and the problem is still there.

    If anyone has any thoughts, it would be appreciated.

    Please contact the Official ZA technical support at the Live Chat link in my Signature and troubleshoot the issue with them.

    Please post back here if you find a solution. It may help other users...



    give Tech Support any Error messages in the ZA logs?
    and what are the steps you took to reproduce the problem.

    The More information you post the more likely Tech Support will be able to understand the issue and try to help.

    also is this a DeskTop, Laptop computer or Netbook.

    I did contact the Live Chat folks. The support person there had me disable the "On Access" scan. This allowed the COPY/PASTE function to work normally.

    How do you feel about the risks of doing this? Is it safe?

    Although he thought this was a memory issue the Task Manager shows only a 22% use of Physical Memory while this is happening.

    Do you have any thoughts on alternative solutions?

    Assuming ZA is installed correctly I would try to check:

    - ZA logs for blocked connections
    - ZA zones for correct allocation of your network and DHCP IP

    Then I would boot the system only ZA and standard MS services like this:

    1.) Click Start -> Run
    2.) Type MSConfig in the run box (or search box in VISTA) and click OK (ENTER in VISTA)
    3.) Once in MSConfig, click the Startup Tab
    4.) Remove the checks from everything except forcefield.exe and zatray.exe
    5.) Click the Services Tab
    6.) Place a check in "Hide All Microsoft Services"
    7.) Now remove checks from everything other than TrueVector Internet
    Monitor and ZoneAlarm ForceField (if present), and click OK.
    8.) Restart your computer

    If all of this fails, I would try to again with a clean install but this time using the ZA removal utility

    - Remove ZA from add/remove programs (XP), Uninstall a program (VISTA), reboot the PC
    - Download and run the ZA removal tool
    - Reboot the PC
    - Install latest build (250) you find here

    Troubleshoot again with MSCONFIG.

    If all the above fails then time to report the issue to ZA technical support (link in my signature) and report to them what already was done.

    I tried the suggestions in your previous reply, but I'm still experiencing the same issues.

    When I click on the support link in your signature, I'm sorry but it's not clear to me what I do on the next page to report the problem to ZA Technical Support, I don't see any obvious links to report a problem other than the premium services and the chat.

    I said to click on the Live Chat link..

    that is located on the Top Right and Free to Za users with an unexpired ZA License Key..

    By default you will be connected to Tech Support, if you need to talk to Customer Support for License Renewal or possible Refund, then select Non- Tech Support Help option..

    No help at all.

    In your reply on 08/19 at 1:17 pm you told me to cotact the Live Chat, which I did and reponded back to you at 2:50 today that I did the Live Chat and told you what they said (if this is their technical support, it was worthless).

    At 3:15 today you replied back with additional suggestions and I quote "If all the above fails then time to report the issue to ZA technical support (link in my signature) and report to them what already was done." NOT LIVE CHAT.

    Since you said different things I assumed they were different instructions.

    We are all users here, so please try to be more specific in your instructions if you are going to provide assistance. And say what you mean so that we can be guided in the right direction.

    I'm sorry that you mis understood my instructions..

    you infered that the list of things that I had suggested did not work or solve your issue..

    so my last post was to advise you that if your issue with Zone Alarm has not yet been resolved,

    then you should continue follow up with the Official Tech Support Link and tell them that whatever they had recommended you do did not resolve the issue and continue to troubleshoot the issue with them.

    you may need to submit any Error messages in the ZA logs?
    and what the steps you took to reproduce the problem.

    The More information you post the more likely Tech Support will be able to understand the issue and try to help and or forward your issue to the ZA Developers.
