Default What is Inbound Trusted and Inbound Internet?

    Hello,
I just installed the current version (below) and I noticed the following:
If I go to Application Control, then View Programs, the columns are worded different than previous versions. If I remember correctly in version 9 the last two columns were server inbound and outbound I think. Now it is Inbound Trusted and Inbound Internet.
Specifically what are the last two columns please?
    Are they server related?
The reason I am asking is on a new install I have green check marks all the way across the rows where in the old version 9, the last two were denied. (except svchost.exe)
    Thank you.

    Hi!

it is the same as previous version. The last two columns referred to the server rights to the trusted zone (= inbound trusted in ZA10) and server rights to the internet (= inbound internet in ZA10).

The change was due to the users confusion linked to access/server permission naming. Now ZA clearly distinguishes between the program outbound permissions (from the program to somewhere else) and inbound permissions (from somewhere else to the program) .

Be careful to change inbound permissions especially if on WIN7 (that is much more "inbound" demanding than XP). You can cause problems of stability and malfunctions not always easy to link back to ZA.

    Cheers,

Thank you Fax for the reply.

One more question if I may please.
On XP, should I set this up as the old version as below or let the new version decide what to deny:

Inbound Trusted = all denied except svchost.exe which has a green check
    Inbound Internet = all denied

This worked without any problem in version 9 on my system.

    Thank you again.

    You're welcome!

Up to you to decide... just remember what you did in ZA and if you see something weird happening or applications not working correctly then it may be due to ZA. As already mentioned, problems may appear only under a specific configuration scenario and when it will happen it will not easy to link it back to ZA.

From a security point of view, if you keep your OS and programs fully up to date (check from time to time with Secunia), your antivirus and ZA updated and always running then you can rely on ZA DefenseNet determination of access permissions and trust level, you will still be perfectly safe.
