    Smile [SOLVED] Anti-virus/Anti-spyware update: Error ==> Install latest ZA internal build

    I get the above message when I try to run an update. That's all it says. Is there an error log somewhere that might give me more useful information?

    I'm running Zone Alarm on three nearly identical XP Pro machines, only one of them has the problem. This is a desktop machine that's been running ZA for many years:

    ZoneAlarm with Anti-virus version: 10.0.250.000
    vsmon version: 10.0.250.000
    Driver version: 10.0.250.000
    Anti-virus engine version: 8.1.8.79
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version: 1060667040
    ZoneAlarm Browser Security: 1.5.322.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner: 1.5.53.235
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Anti-Phishing Database: 1.2.104.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database: 04.155

    Hi;

    Please follow up with the Official Tech support (Free of charge for Users with a Valid ZA license) and give more detailed explanation of your computer and version of Windows and Service Pack Update (SP2 or SP3) and your problem and what steps you have already taken..

    Please click on the Support link in my Signature
    then click on the LIVE CHAT Link at the top Right side of the SUPPORT page and troubleshoot the issue with Technical Support.

    I have the same problem trying to update my AV/AS too. I am unable to chat online for some reason. I keep getting errors when updating, too.

    Hi;

    A.) Please read this Sticky Post by the Forum Moderator:

    Sticky: Can't get to Zone Alarm Tech Support Chat

    B.) Re-install
    The instruction for a clean install are below, however I would recommend to follow-up with support before. Other users with your problem have resolve it buy installing a non public build provided by Tech Support.

    1. Download the Looking for the latest version? <= click Here
    2. Remove you current version (in XP add/remove programs)
    3. Remove other security tools installed. Use http://www.appremover.com/ to double check that no left overs are present.
    4. Clean your system and registry with ccleaner.com
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim
    5. Download to your desktop and run the ZA removal tool, then reboot.
    6. Install the latest ZA version without touching any default settings and try again.

    I gave up after five minutes of being told that someone would be with me shortly. I'll try your uninstall/reinstall instructions.

    OK, reinstalling didn't work, I'll go camp out at tech support chat again.

    Thanks for the Feedback..

    That the Only way to troubleshoot the issue is with Technical Support (Free Service to Users with Valid License Key) ,
    they can Collect Za Logs and escalate the issue directly to the Developers..


    Let me know how it went and if you find a solution that may help other users with your issue..

    I got through on the chat this time, I got instructions for downloading what I guess is a different version, I'll let you know how it works out.

    Ok, I will try your suggestion on removing the program and re-installing a newer version from your link tonight. I will get back to you when and if I succeed.

    FYI, I just downloaded and installed version 10.1.035.000 (via instructions from tech support chat), works like a charm.
