    Default Blocking email?

    Hello

    Does Zone Alarm Security Suite block microsoft 2010 email from working? Trouble receiving emails since loading trial version of zone alarm security suite.

    Which exact version of ZA Suite have you installed? Right click the ZA icon near the clock --> about --> copy to clipboard --> Paste it in a reply.

    Which OS are you using? XP SP?, Vista Sp?, Windows 7, 32 or 64bit?

    Previous security tool installed? Was it removed before installing ZA or disabled or kept installed?

    For ur help.

    1. Didn't remove any security device, but mcafee was disabled and windows security suite doesn't work.

    2. Can't do a cut and paste at present, because my internet server is down, I am using a mobile one at present. Sorry I live in a regional area and sometimes this happens.

    3. I have Microsoft Outlook 2010 and part of Microsoft Office 2010

    4. Computer is using a Windows Vista Business.

    5. The Zone Alarm Security Suite I am using is the Extreme security. And on the download this was the number on there:

    ZASP Setup Web - 100 -250 - 000 - en.....

    File Number 10.0.250.C

    This is what I found in the program files as for a name,
    Checkpoint/ZoneAlarm/zatray.exe

    Ok, thanks. Enough information to start helping you.

    The problem you are experiencing with Outlook may be originating from the existing functional/non functional security tools that altough disabled still loads system drivers at boot and can clash each other including with ZA. The problem can also originate from a malware infections, see point B on how to clean the system (if it applies to you).

    A)
    As a normal practices you never run concurrent security tools. If you want to try ZA Extreme you will need first to remove ALL the other security software including running the dedicated tools you find here: Installation Best Practices (see point 1) to remove any left overs.

    If you have problems removing Microsoft Security Essential (possibly what you mention as "windows security suite") see here:

    How to manually uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials

    Then, double check your outlook works as it should. Only after this you can install ZA Extreme trial and test how it works on your system. ZA Extreme works fine with Outlook 2010 and should not block it.

    I will give it a go and let you know how I get on.

    And yeah problem with malware, virus etc...which is why I downloaded Zone Alarm Extreme Security, to see if that would help.

    You're welcome!

    If you had malware infection then better to clean out the malware before installing ZA. For that you need to use specialised antimalware tools (listed in the malware guidance thread). Malware nowadays can be difficult to remove and I would reccomend to post your logs go to spywarehammer or bleeping computer forums to ensure you are clean.

    You should be also sure your OS is fully up to date (no security tool will be able to protect you if run them on an untrusted platform) and scan your PC for vulnerable software with, for example, secunia.
