    Default Keeps restarting Anti-virus/Anti-spyware Scan

    This is driving me up the wall.

    Windows 7 64 bit.

    ZA Security Suite:

    ZoneAlarm Security Suite version: 10.0.250.000
    vsmon version: 10.0.250.000
    Driver version: 10.0.217.000
    Anti-virus engine version: 8.1.8.79
    Anti-virus signature DAT file version: 1061790944
    ZoneAlarm Browser Security: 1.5.322.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner: 1.5.53.235
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Anti-Phishing Database: 1.2.104.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database: 04.155

    ZA starts a scan. Fine. This is scheduled. But the scan can take 4 or 5 hours and my home computer is not usually on for that long.

    I have tried leaving the computer on all day. So far I come back and find the machine has crashed and needs to be re-started. Then I find the ZA scan has to start from scratch again.

    I have tried to cancel the scan part the way through. But when I re-boot, there it is again, but starting from the beginning yet again.

    Or worse. It finishes the scan but then I find it is repeating.

    So my monthly scan takes about a week of messing about. Does ZA really have to go back to the start each time?

    Hi;

    1.) It is normal for ZA Security Suite to Re-start the Scan when the Computer is Booted up again, if the Scan was Stopped or did not complete the Scan, How ever, If the Scan Completes successfully, it is not normal to repeat the Scan.

    2.) A corruted ZA Database or Other Security programs conflicting with Zone Alarm may be involved.

    and what are the steps you took to reproduce the problem.

    Thanks for the initial comments.

    Well today I tried to leave my computer on all day to finish the scan. But guess what. Crash at about 95% complete. It has now re-started and has got to 90% so far in nearly two hours.

    Trouble is if I cancel, ZA scan re-starts next re-boot. If it crashes, ZA re-starts on the next boot.

    I will review the database corruption possibility as I have also been getting some 'browser stability' error messages.

    I will keep you posted.

    Sorry your having these issues but from your last description this could be an issues with a file on your PC.

    Only way to figure that out is that you will have to take the time and run the scan fully 2-3 more times and if it ends at the same percentage and also document the file it crashed on.

    If its the same file or in the same directory every time then there could be a file or a hard drive issue.

    This will be one of many troubleshooting steps support will ask you to try.
