    Default Browser Security Breach Popup

Last night a popup appeared (that appeared to be a ZA Free popup) that said something about my browser's security being breached. It was asking for me to approve sending info about the breach to ZA and, as I recall, the request gave me three different levels of info I could chose from to return. I was busy at the time and disconcerted by the notice and was not even sure if it was a legitimate ZA popup so I simply closed it, closed IE and reopened it and went on about my business.

Does this sound like a legitimate ZA Free popup? What could have happened to cause it? What should I have done when it appeared and what, if anything, should I do now?

Thanks in advance for any info and guidance you can offer.

    Vic

Yes, normally due to a crash of the ZA forcefield component and has three different levels of logs that can be sent.

Does this mean that my browser's security was breached or that the ZA module simply had a random failure?

I know very little about all of this and would like to know if this is something I should be concerned over.

What might have caused this to happen? What should I do now, if anything?

Please help me understand what all of this means.

    Thanks!

Simply a failure. ZA free does not offer advanced malware protection. ZA toolbar will check site for trust level and phishing.

I assume you are running a proper antivirus solution. Right?

I would suggest you clean your browser cache. To check for malware infection you can review the malware guidance thread in the malware section of this forum. There are some free tools you can use.

I think I turned off ZA toolbar sometime back because it was slowing my pc down a lot but I am not sure.

I run AVG Free and also AdAware and periodically scan my system with MalWareBytes. I also have CCleaner installed and fairly frequently clear everything out of the cache using it.

I don't think ZA Free has the force field feature you mentioned earlier. Does it? If it was not that, then what was the popup about/from and caused by?

Yes, it does but with limited functionality with or without the toolbar. Anyway, don't worry, you are fine.

Thanks! I was worried that someone had perhaps broken into my machine, stolen info or put a keylogger or something similar on it.

    You're welcome!
ZAfree does not offer keylogging protection, only retail versions. If your antimalware tools are working and kept updated then you are fine
