Thread: Log- Scan Failed. ???

    Default Log- Scan Failed. ???

What does it mean when, under the Status column, in the log, it says the scan failed numerous times during the scan?

I ran a manual deep scan, which only took about 70 minutes, and showed '0' infections; however the log shows several rows of AV/Treatments, under 'Type' and Scan Failed under 'Status', during the course of my manual scan. Why did the scan fail for some files and does that mean that those files have been scanned? Im not sure what all this means, could someone please help me? Thanks.

    Hi!

yes, this can be normal and its due to locked, corrupted or unreadable files.

Double check that you do NOT have the option of antivirus scanning error logs turned ON in Tools --> Logs --> Alert Events --> "Antivirus/antispyware scanning errors". If activated it will generate many unecessary logs entries. This option should be turned ON only if you have been requested by the official ZA technical support for troubleshooting purposes.

    Thanks Fax,

Just so Im clear, you're saying that a failed scan is not an indication of a virus? In other words there is no possibility a virus made the scan fail or is hidden in these corrupt files?

Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

Cannot be excluded 100%. Normally if a file is corrupted, locked or busy also the virus will not be able to access it.

For peace of mind you should follow the steps as detailed below:
    Malware Clean-up Guidance

BUT Before you should check you are on the latest ZA version 10.1.065.000 if not please update to it. Better to remove your old ZA before installing the new.

    Looking for the latest version?
