Default [SOLVED] Can't rid old entries, causes blockage --> reset settings

    Hi...

Same on all 4 pcs here.

This has been for the previous version and also current version.

Try to remove entries for older version of Firefox, as well as Java.

New install of both softwares. Set up permissions well.

They are blocked from net access although set well instead.

Look in ZA and the old entries for previous versions are there again along with new entries.

Basically, the problem is that after deleting old entries, they return and even though permissions are allowed in old and new, the new version of softwares remain blocked due to the issue.

I've been using ZA for over 10 years now, so thanks!, and please see if you can fix this.

Any info needed, please feel free to ask.

    Thanks again!

    Hi;

1.) Zone Alarm 10.1.065.000 will Support FireFox 8, (prior versions of Firefox are not supported)

but due to changes in Firefox 7 & 8 , ZA 10.1.056.000 Browser security toolbar only supported Firefox 7 (prior versions of Firefox are not supported)

Follow these instructions Below to clean your computer of the old version and any conflicting 3rd party Security programs, then install a clean new copy of the current supported version of ZA Extreme Security 10.1.065.000

10.1.065.000 Multi-language, English, German, French, Italian and Spanish.

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Secruity

    http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...01_065_000.exe
The instruction for a clean install are below,

    1. Download the latest ZA version <== click here

    2. Remove your current ZA version (in XP use Windows add/remove programs)

    3. Remove other security tools installed. Use http://www.appremover.com/ to double check no left overs are present.

    4. Clean your system and registry withthe Free Ccleaner.exe
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim

    5. Download to your desktop and run the ZA removal tool, now reboot after running ZA Removal tool.

    6. Install the latest ZA version without touching any default settings.

So AppRemover probably Looks for Apps with compatibility issues..

2.) check all of your installed programs for vulnerabilities and updates,
scan your PC for vulnerable software with, the Free version of, Secunia PSI 2.0

George, thank you kindly for your very quick response.

I'm aware that I could fresh install ZA and the problem will easily go away. Just to give a little background, I'm a Windows BSOD debugging expert.

Anyhow, I quickly made a screenshot showing the returning problem. As soon as I hit delete on it (it removes), then ok - then I check immediately again and it is returned.

Just trying to give some helpful information so the engineers could perhaps alleviate the issue.

As you can see, it even has a file size of 0. (The folder and the file locations both do not exist any longer at all, and have not for many months.)

Again, thank you very much for your time!

I suppose it pays off to have a friendly demeanor around here!

I can confirm that with the new version 10.1.079.000 that this bug no longer exists. I can (and did) delete these problematic entries with one try and they remain gone.

Thank you for the excellent work and the new improvements of this new version, Checkpoint and forum staff! Great work and keep it up!
