    Default "Your Computer is at Risk"

    I have just installed the most recent release

    ZoneAlarm Security Suite version: 10.1.065.000
    ZoneAlarm license key:
    vsmon version: 10.1.065.000
    Driver version: 10.1.065.000
    ZoneAlarm Browser Security: 1.5.350.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner: 1.5.350.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Anti-Phishing Database: 1.2.104.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database: 04.155

    The AV/AS is "ON" but "automatic update is not set properly" The "Fix Now" button does nothing. The "Scan Now" and "Update Now" button are greyed over and do not operate. The "Settings" indicate that the AV scan and Update schedules are N/A and when I "enable" them they revert to N/A. In other words the settings will not remain "enabled." The Product Update is, in contrast, "enabled."

    The computer has not been scanned and the AV/AS definitions have not been updated.

    Any thoughts on a potential resolution?

    This is normally due to a bad upgrade or corrupted settings.

    If the issue originate by ZA, you should be able to fix it by following the below points.

    1. Download the latest version 10.1.079.000
    2. Remove your current version from XP add/remove programs or Win7 uninstall a program
    3. Reboot the PC
    4. Run the ZA removal tool (clean.exe) http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...load/clean.exe
    5. Reboot the PC
    6. Now install the latest version in point 1.

    Do not restore any previous ZA backup
    Do not run any other security (they can cause the conflict you describe)
    Clean your registry and temp folders with free ccleaner.

    Fax

    I have had difficulty in prior years with ZA. Tech support gave me the following "clean" protocol and I having used it unsuccessfully to resolve the issue, I am wondering if it is still valid and if I have all of the artifacts identified.

    Is the following still valid?

    In Safe Mode, (Restart F8)
    Delete Folders c: Program Files Zone Labs Folder (CheckPoint)
    Delete Folders c: Windows Internet Logs Folder
    Delete Files c: Windows system32 folder
    vsconfig.xml; vsdata.dll; vsdata95.vxd; vsdatant.sys;
    vsinit.dll; vsmonapi.dll;
    vspubapi.dll; vsregexp.dll;
    vsutil.dll; vswmi.dll; vsxml.dll;
    zlcomm.dll; zlcommdb.dll; zllictbl.dat; zpeng24.dll;
    zpeng25.dll
    Clear your Temp Directory per the instructions below.
    - Go to Start -> Run
    - Type %temp% and click OK
    - Select all of these files and delete them
    Clear the Prefetch folder per the instructions below (Windows XP only).
    - Go to Start -> Run
    - Type Prefetch and click OK
    - Select all of these files and delete them
    Remove the necessary registry entries
    Start -> Run -> and type regedit
    Delete all: (if rejected right click Premissions )
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CheckPoint
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\KasperskyLabs
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MailFrontier was not there
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Zone Labs

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\kl1
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\KLIF
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\vsmon
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\vsdatant

    Empty your recycle bin.
    Restart the computer.
    Reinstall Zone Alarm

    Sorry, you will need to check with support directly about those, we are all users here. ZA staff do not monitor this board. If you feel more secured with official support please contact them directly at the link in signature, its free for registered users.

    Moreover if you already contacted them then it's important you come back to them again to report the issue is not resolved. Not here.

    If it is a recurrent problem then I would ensure you are not running other conflicting tools or left over from previous security tools with appremover.com. Corruption of OS files or core system files can be also a cause, this is especially true if you had malware infections in the past. Also check your system for vulnerable software and updated it. Finally frequent crash or hangs (incorrect shutdown) of the pc can corrupt ZA.

    Also rememeber that if you post a message in user forum you will need to provide as much as information you can to help other users to understand the issue and try to help you.

    Which versions of the OS you use? XP? WIN7? Is it fully up to date?
    Which version of ZA you upgraded from?
    What other software is running at boot? Other security tools? Which one?

    Also remember that if other users here had provided you with some hints and steps to perform, you will need to follow them closely in order to see if they can help you. Otherwise you are unlikely to solve your problem.

    Thanks,
