Thread: Clean Install 10.1.079.000 old licence key

    Default Clean Install 10.1.079.000 old licence key

    When caring out a clean install of 10.1.079.000 from an earlier installed version 10.1.055.000 (I think) I used the new ZA cleaning tool (in safe mode). Installed and rebooted I was surprised to find that I had a ZA icon in my system tray with a red X and a message "Zone Alarm your protection has expired" Clicked on about information set out below shows an old expired Licence Key:

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version: 10.1.079.000
    ZoneAlarm license key: ** removed ** - DO NOT POST YOUR LICENSE KEY IN A PUBLIC FORUM

    ZoneAlarm Browser Security: 1.5.350.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner: 1.5.350.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Anti-Phishing Database: 1.2.104.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database: 04.155

    So I thought good just change the Licence key to my current one but the "show Monitor" is greyed out so I can't open the monitor to update the key. I next down loaded the instruction to manually clean up ZAES and reinstalled same issue. Also clean installed a previous version of ZASE same issue

    Can any one help?

    Desktop running WINXP SP3 2.99Ghz 3.25 MB RAM - All critical MS updates installed.

    Also ran this by ZA support they insisted the cleaner tool would solve the problem but unfortunately to tool did not.

    Hi;

    Follow these instructions Below to clean your computer of the old version and any conflicting 3rd party Security programs, then install a clean new copy of the current supported version of ZA Extreme Security 10.1.079.000

    The instruction for a clean install are below,

    1. Download the latest version
    http://server.iad.liveperson.net/hc/...10&action=view <== click here

    2. Remove your current ZA version (in XP use Windows add/remove programs)

    3. Remove other security tools installed. Use http://www.appremover.com/ to double check no left overs are present.

    4. Clean your system and registry withthe Free Ccleaner.exe
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim

    5. Download to your desktop and run the ZA removal tool, now reboot after running ZA Removal tool.

    6. Install the latest ZA version without touching any default settings.
    and Do Not restore any saved ZA Setting from old ZA version.

    Thanks, carried out your recommended actions and made some progress. I was able to enter my current licence code (but I still get an expired licence pop up warning) The tray icon has lost its red X and I have an option to "view update" and when I hover over the tray icon it states "ZoneAlarm initialisation in progress"

    When I view the update it says "update product: checking"

    ZoneAlarm Extreme Security version: 10.1.079.000
    ZoneAlarm license key: CURRENT KEY APPLIED
    ZoneAlarm Browser Security: 1.5.350.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner: 1.5.350.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Anti-Phishing Database: 1.2.104.0
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Sites Database: 04.155

    How can I move on from here?

    This is normally an indication that the removal tool has not the necessary permission to fully access the system either because of a corrupution of the OS registry or due to other software installed (shut down everything running) or due to hardware problems.

    You may want to remove ZA and then manually look for all "checkpoint" folders (in programs folder and application data folder) and remove them manually. Some folders (in app data) are hidden. You will need to show all files and folders. You may also need to do this in SAFE MODE.

    If the above fails you have to escalate the issue at the official support level (we are all users here) and report exactly what you have done to resolve the issue and what is left to resolve.
