Thread: Will not up-date and other issues.

    Default Will not up-date and other issues.

    I have been subscribing to ZA for several years and found it effective and easy to use but the one I've bought this year looks totally different than previous ones and is not easy to navigate.

    Now it seems to have stopped working completely. I try to update manually because this is not happening automatically and there is no warning that it may be out of date! All I get is an 'error' say it cannot update.

    It seems also to show incoherant information like telling me it is still valid for 3546 days!!

    Anyone tell me whats going on (or not going on} Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Hi;

    Read this Link on how to navigate the New ZA ver. 10 design:

    From what little information that you provided, this sounds like a Bad Install, or Coruuption by conflict with other Security programs installed?


    a.) what Type and Version # of Zone Alarm (Free, Pro, AV, Extreme)
    b.) for with Windows Type and Version and Sevice Pack release?

    c.) is this aDeskTop, Laptop computer or Netbook.


    It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country, or around the World, without All the Details about your computer and Software that you failed to provide, without our ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..




    Follow these instructions Below to clean your computer of the old version and any conflicting 3rd party Security programs, then install a clean new copy of the current supported version of ZoneAlarm 10.1.065.000

    The instruction for a clean install are below,

    1. Download the latest ZA version <== click here

    2. Remove your current ZA version (in XP use Windows add/remove programs)

    3. Remove other security tools installed. Use http://www.appremover.com/ to double check that no left overs are present.

    4. Clean your system and registry withthe Free Ccleaner.exe
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim

    5. Download to your desktop and run the ZA removal tool, now reboot after running ZA Removal tool.

    6. Install the latest ZA version without touching any default settings.

    Thank youi GeogeV for your reply, sorry for the delay.

    I was so frustrated trying to get ZA to work that I forgot to put my system details because of getting a thread started straight away.

    I have ZA AV paid-up Version 10.0.250.000
    I am running Win XP Pro with Service pk 3 on
    Desktop P.C

    I am now going to follow your instructions to see how I get on. Will let you know how it goes.

    Snag? Uninstalling ZA using 'Add/Remove progs' in control panel, I get to 80% uninstall then it freezes and does not complete.

    Hmm.. try steps 5.) and 6.)

    the ZA Removal tool works better than Add/Remove..

    Have followed your instructions and now have version10.1.065.000 and entered my license key successfully---great but unfortunately I still cannot update, keep getting

    AV update error.
    Product update error.

    Any further sugestions?

    Be sure to specify to official support which setup do you use to connect to internet (dial-up? broadband?) connecting via a modem/router? Including the use of proxies and the settings in the Internet Options. Also clean up your machine from other security tools or left over, they can impar the correct working of ZA.

    Also past malware infections may have damaged the operating system or core files. If you had past infections been treated it is advisable to start from scratch and install the OS fresh.

    It one of two things.

    If you followed all the direction perfectly thus far then...

    Your PC has a proxy setting in the OS or registry and that causes ZA not to update or you have some malware that is preventing ZA and many other security software to not be able to update.

    Theres no bug in 10.1.065 ZA that would not allow it to get its av updates. Its always a system issue when it comes to this and av updates.
