    Thumbs up [SOLVED] User Profile can't be loaded (again)

    Note: I know this was previously posted, but as the thread is locked I can't ask for help.

    Anyway, I've just reformatted my desktop computer which runs Vista. All was running fine. I loaded all the microsoft updates, and restarted my computer. Next I loaded my Zone Alarm. Once I restarted my computer, I got the dreaded user profile error message.

    Help! Please note, this is the 2nd time I've had this problem. The first time I wasn't sure if it was due to a conflict with Vista and Zone Alarm so I started from scratch, restarting me computer between each major step. Now I know that it is a conflict between Vista and ZA.

    BTW, I've been using Vista and Zone Alarm successfully for years on this computer. The problem happened because I had to reformat my computer. The suggestion (to eliminate the .bak file) on the other thread suggested didn't work for me as there was no .bak file.

    Hi!

    Not sure what is the problem and judging from the amount of users having your issue (only you) I don't really know how you can link it to a ZA problem.

    Unless you are still on version 8 of ZA (last post) please update to the latest version 10. If you have already done so please contact directly ZA technical support. The link to support is in my signature. Look for the live chat icon.

    I doubt support will be able to help but nothing to loose to try it!

    I think the problem is that I'm loading years worth of critical updates from Vista all at once. I remember that there was an issue between ZA and Vista, which was corrected, quite some time ago. I think this time around I'll load ZA first (before the Windows updates) and see if that works.

    Normally first you need to fully update vista and only after install ZA.

    Default Problem Solved - Vista ZA issues

    Problem solved!

    On my reformatted computer I didn't do all the 100 some critical updates individually, but first loaded on Service Pack 1 and then Service Pack 2 from the Microsoft sight. I then contacted the very helpful ZA chat people, who gave me a specific link to download ZA. Once it loaded, I entered my license key. I then updated ZA.

    I'm happy to say that it worked! I wished I had contacted chat earlier, as I've been trying to solve this problem since Monday! Every time I downloaded ZA I would be locked out of my computer and have to reformat all over again.

    Hooray for the helpful ZA Chat people!
