Exclamation conflict with ZA and Java 1.7 BETA

    hello all -

ever since i upgraded from java 1.6_32 to java 1.7_04 i cannot run any java applet, unless i disable zone-alarm.

i can no longer even run the java version test with ZA-free running:

    http://javatester.org/version.html

i have gone into the control panel and authorized every java-looking program i could find (all 20 of them) giving each one full access, but that does not seem to help.

    any ideas?

    thank you!

Sorry, but Zone Alarm is not designed to be compatible with BETA software..

actually it appears that 1.7 just came out of beta:

    http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

    shows something like:

    Free Java Download
Download Java for your desktop computer now!
    Version 7 Update 4

has anybody else ran into this problem? i cant even run a java version test with zone-alarm running.

    Hi!

if you look over google you will find plenty of people having problems with JAVA 7 test pages. This is indipendently from having ZA running or not.

    Just an example for all:
    http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewto...?f=7&t=2374487

I see the same on my machine and the problem persist with or without ZA.

I would then reccomend to remove Java 7, report the issue to oracle and install the latest version 6 that has no problem with the test page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...ads/index.html

May be future releases of JAVA 7 will address all the remaining problems but for the moment its better to stay away from it. It looks very buggy.

    Thanks,
    Fax
P.S. Note that also version 6 latst build contain bugs, e.g. in some installation the link to java control panel in windows control panel is broken.

I noticed in the ZA logs two IP address being blocked when I tried some java tests from this website.
    javatester.org

    When I added the ip's 8.8.88.53 and 75.98.163.66:80

To the trusted zone then java apps starting working with java 1.7
