    Exclamation Cannot connect to VPN

    ZAFree 10.2.68.000

I get Error 807 when I try to connect to my office vpn (pptp) from my laptop (win7 pro 64) unless I drop the public zone setting to medium.

I have no problems from a win xp machine with 10.1.101.000

    Any ideas?

    Hi!
check the ZA online help. There are tips and hints and more help in the troubleshooting section.

Sorry no other suggestions from my side as I don't personally use it, so not much experience with it

    Thanks,

Sometimes there are issues with certain VPN's.

We like to just collect data about yours. Can you tell us what VPN brand you have (what your trying to connect to). Whats the version of the VPN software on your PC.

Here is a generic knowledge base article on how to configure ZA to work with a VPN. Its and old article so not everything may apply still.

The server is PPTPD running under OpenSuse 11.3
The router is a Zyxel P-660HN-F1Z

The client end is Win7 Pro 64bit just using the windows connextion
The Router is a Linksys WAG54g

No problems with a WinXP client.

Here are some steps to update and send us logs.

NOTE: this does not mean we will respond with a fix at all. This is to ONLY collect data so it can be examined and maybe in a future version fix the issue. No guaranteed fix by sending this data to us.

First upgrade to latest version of ZA.
I'm assuming you have the Free firewall version only and no AV from us. If you don't update the data will not be looked at.
ZoneAlarm Free Firewall - Click Here to Download

After thats installed then setup the ZA data collection tool.

Click Start > All Programs > Check Point > ZoneAlarm
    Click the diagnostic tool program.
Check all the boxes in the logging section. Then click OK.
Then you must restart your PC.

    After restart, reproduce the issue.
    Open diagtool again.
    Click the collect data button
Put your email address in and leave case field empty
    Click OK
It will collect and upload your logs. Once you get a message that it was successful, send me a PM (private message) on the forum and tell me your email address you used,.
