Thread: Issue with On-Access-Protection

    Default Issue with On-Access-Protection

    Hi,

I have the latest version of ZA + AV Free:
    Vsmon-version: 10.2.074.000
    Driverversion: 10.2.074.000
    Antivirus-engine-Version: 8.2.11.97
    Antivirus-signature-DAT-fileversion: 1091874944
    Webidentity-version: 1.5.395.0

So, I'm using a limited account for internet browsing, as recommended.
ZA seems to work fine and shows all protection is up
BUT it fails to scan files while being downloaded although On-Access is activated.
As this happened first I decided to re-install ZA and noticed that there was a recent product update which my ZA didn't show me.
So I installed ZA again and now On-Access seemed to work. But after I switched between the accounts, it stopped scanning the files again. Now it didn't scan on both accounts.
Is it possible that on-access didn't work if more accounts are active ?
Is there a solution for this problem ?

    Hi!

can you explain exactly how to replicate the problem (step-by-step procedure)? ZA staff does not monitor this board but in case they do at least they can see how exactly to replicate the issue. This will help also understand what you mean by on-access. Normally this means scanning the file when opening it and not when downloading it. May be you mean on-demand right click? A detailed procedure to replicate the problem will for sure help.

    Thanks,
    Fax

"On-Access" is an option in ZA + AV free.

It is the 3rd option in the configuration menu. It is checked be default. If it is unchecked, ZA states "computer is at risk".
It used to scan every file that is smaller then 8 MB.

I didn't change any setting. I just noticed that it didn't scan the files I downloaded.

Now I logged of my limited account and it is still not scanning.

Hope I'm not the only one with this problem.

Probably there is a misunderstanding, this is why I am asking for a concrete case for which you explain step-by-step (1,2,3,4,5...) how to replicate the problem, including, for examples, download links, etc.

The meaning of "on-access" is that all the files are scanned when executed (= when you open them). ZA does not scan while downloading. On some small files (few kbytes) the scan can happen on saving on the hard disk but not always.

    Thanks,

    Hi fax,

thanks for the explanation. That may be the case. I'm monitoring it further and if I experience further issues I'll report.

Also on-access scan is totally transparent. the user never knows when its scanning. thats the whole idea of on-access. It happens when files are written and read. So its always working while accessing almost anything on your PC and you never know it.

So there no way to compare it with different user accounts in the first place.

Also fax is correct. Any further discussion on this topic must be a step by step 1.2.3. type of reply only to this thread.
