    Angry Having to uninstall ZA security suit to install some programs or USB lan device

    HI all

    this is starting to get a bit tiresome ,
    first of all I tried to install a new usb network card , everything seemed to work fine except I could get the device to work .......

    I stumble on a post that said you need to remove ZA install the Lan drivers and software and reinstall ZA ....
    so first i tried to just turn off ZA and install with no luck ....
    second uninstalled ZA installed the usb lan software and hey presto IT WORKED .
    reinstalled ZA and all was good

    now I have had to do the exact same thing with some Car diagnostic software that uses the USB port to communicate to the car ECU and systems ( this is ross-tech VCDS software).
    except now I have to turn off the za software as well to allow it to run , even though I have told ZA in the program control not to touch it ?????

    has anybody got any pointers or any reasons why this is happening???

    It could be a Conflict with 3rd party software, contact the 3rd party provider and let them know about the conflict with Zone Alarm..

    You can also Try this:

    Follow these instructions Below to clean your computer of the old version and any conflicting 3rd party Security programs, then install a clean new copy of the current supported version of ZA 10.1.079.000

    The instruction for a clean install are below,

    1. Download the latest version

    2. Remove your current ZA version (in XP use Windows add/remove programs)

    3. Remove other security tools installed. Use http://www.appremover.com/ to double check no left overs are present.

    4. Clean your system and registry withthe Free Ccleaner.exe
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim

    5. Download to your desktop and run the ZA removal tool, now reboot after running ZA Removal tool.

    6. Install the latest ZA version without touching any default settings.
    and Do Not restore any saved ZA Setting from old ZA version.

    I had this problem with wireless network (USB & PCI) ... It was related to installing network drivers after ZoneAlarm install.
    Solution was uninstall drivers, uninstall ZoneAlarm, install drivers, install ZoneAlarm.

    However, I am now facing a similar issue with Ross Tech VCDS v11.11;
    VCDS will not start when ZoneAlarm is installed, even if I stop ZoneAlarm.

    So far, the only solution I found is;
    Uninstall ZoneAlarm, VCDS will run, Re-Install ZoneAlarm, VCDS will not run.
    Not a perfect solution

    Hello;

    1.) did you follow (ALL) of the suggestions provided in this thread?

    2.) It could be a Conflict with 3rd party software, contact the 3rd party provider (Ross Tech VCDS) and let them know about the conflict with Zone Alarm..

    Ross Tech VCDS can't provide a Fix unless Users provide Feedback to them about conflict with their product..
