    Angry Version 10.2.074.000 STILL won't update for me

    OK, I waited ages for a supposed fix to the previously known "update failure" issue, but once I updated to 0.74 I thought the issues had been fixed since the "at risk" message disappeared, but after a week it has appeared again.

    Version 10.2.074 STILL won't update for me, giving a "zone alarm update overdue" message.

    Thoughts?

    Version of ZA used? The fix is for ZA without the antivirus and not other versions. Which ZA are you using? Right click the ZA icon near the clock --> about --> copy to clipboard --> paste it here in a reply.

    If you use ZAfree with antivirus, how do you connect to internet? DO you run other security software (even if disabled)? Using proxy? Net limiting software? etc. There is something on the system blocking the update.

    OK, I thought I had responded here but obviously not !!!

    It is the AV that won't update.

    ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall version: 10.2.078.000
    Vsmon version: 10.2.078.000
    Driver version: 10.2.078.000
    Antivirus engine version: 8.2.11.97
    Antivirus signature DAT file version: 1083906848
    Web Identity Protections version: 1.5.396.0

    I uninstalled, downloaded the latest and re-installed and the AV was fine for a few days, but once the database was old it started reporting the update error again.

    I will have to ditch ZA AV if we can't fix this since doing a full re-install every week is obviously not a solution.

    You mean restoring old settings?? Or just after the first install then it report the error again? The error appears when you force manual updates? or also when ZA updates automatically?

    Probably something in your setup that is not supported by ZA.

    obviously not enough information to diagnose and resolve your problem.!!!

    remember this request by Guru Fax for information..

    The More information you post the more likely users here will be able to understand the issue and try to help.

    also is this a DeskTop, Laptop computer or Netbook;

    what kind of Connection to the Internet do you have?

    Please List any other Security Programs installed as these programs may be conflicting with Zone Alarm.

    OK, This is a system that was working fine until a ZA update (from what I can remember at least).

    It is a desk top with a hard connection to the internet.

    It happens whenever either a forced update or an automatic update occurs.

    No other security software installed (trying to replace a removed AVAST and AVG which are completely uninstalled, well... as complete as both those programs actually accomplish!!). No proxy, nothing else I can think of. WinPatrol is installed but tried with it disabled too.

    Are any log files generated which we can look at to determine exactly what stage is getting blocked?

    The setup and applications installed and previously installed (Avast, WinPatrol etc...) are the same as on 2 other machines which seem fine.

    @Fax : I am not trying to restore anything, I am just trying to get the AV database to update.

    Did it ever worked before in this machine? If yes, then we can try to troubleshoot. If not, it is unlikely that you will manage to resolve it as it could depend on broken OS, security left overs, registry permissions... etc. Hundreds of possible reasons.

    ZA AV is generating logs. But these are difficult to intepret. Also you have not specified the OS version used and hardware. So I cannot indicate you where to look for them.

    Ok, then lets try to see if there is anything we can do. First we need to ensure we start clean. But I need your OS version! Otherwise I have to post duplicate information for different OSs.
