    Default constant scanning

    finally found theres a new version 10.2.074.000 but this version is more anoying instead of scanning everyboot this one is scaning for around 15 mins every hour firstly why ? and secondly is anyone else having problems with the internet everytime it starts scanning it seems to stop all internet activity while its scanning so things like online games cut out movies stop even web pages wont load then once its done everythings fine again till the next time and lastly why dont auto updates auto update even tho there turned on

    any help would be welcome thanks

    Hi!

    right click the ZA icon near the clock, about, copy to clipboard, paste it in a reply. Also the under tools --> Logs --> Antivirus about scanning your HD.

    You are probably mixing up a ZA scanning the system and a ZA actually updating the antivirus signature. The latter is normal, the ZA scanning at every boot is not.

    Do you have enough RAM installed? Are you running other security tools installed? Other tools running at boot? What you describe seems more related to a congested PC or slow HD.

    You are probably mixing up a ZA scanning the system and a ZA actually updating the antivirus signature. The latter is normal, the ZA scanning at every boot is not.

    It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country, or around the World,
    without All the Details about your computer it's Software and what type and Version of Zone Alarm that you failed to provide, without our ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..

    The More information you post the more likely users here will be able to understand the issue and try to help.


    is this a First time install?
    Stopped working recently?
    any other issues?
    any Error messages in the ZA logs?
    and what are the steps you took to reproduce the problem.

    also is this a DeskTop, Laptop computer or Netbook;

    what kind of Connection to the Internet do you have?

    Please List any other Security Programs installed as these programs may be conflicting with Zone Alarm.

    been thru the scanning logs and thers not a single mention to any form of scanning just updates even tho its clearly scanning the little disk apears over the a icon and the option to view scan is there when it updates the little arrow shows up instead also theres not updates showing for every single day for the past 3 months ive got updates set to once in 24 hours it can only be the av thats scanning its every hour for 15 mins cant work out what its doing it for its then its stalling the internet to the point where anything running thinks its not longer connected

    cpu is an icore 7 second gen running at 3.8 ghz and ive 16 gb ddr 3 ram it is 64bit my my boot drives are 4 ssd drives in stripped raid i only let my grfx drivers and sound drivers start up with zone alarm the problems only started 2 big updates ago even tried clean install of both za and wiping the hdds and starting again

    This is typically happens if your ZA databases are corrupted (where settings are stored). Last try would be to reset them.
    Go to ZA main interface --> Tools --> Preferences --> Reset to defaults --> Reboot the PC.

    If the above is not enough then it could be that ZA does not support your configuration. i.e. 4 boot drives are normally not supported by ZA.

    You may need to contact the ZA technical support and start from scratch all troubleshooting. Always going back to them reporting results. Link to official support is in my signature (wr are all user here). Look for the live chat link at their main support page.

    Let us know if you manage to resolve the issue. It may help other users with similar problems.
