    Default [SOLVED] ZASS 10.2.074 /WIN7 can't update antivirus --> Reinstall

    ZA security suite won't update automatically OR manually in Win 7. I have 300+ days on my licence and am running as administrator, but update just hangs. Any ideas?

    Hi!

    right click the ZA icon near the clock --> about --> copy to clipboard --> paste it here. Remove license info, if there. Also explain in detail the error you are receiving. Screenshot would also be welcome

    Also note that with a valid license you can contact, free of charge, the ZA technical support at the link in my signature (look for the live chat link at the main ZA support page). We are all users here.

    Sorry Can't paste snip of screen here. It simply says Update in progress. Update checking 0% and stays that way

    ok, thanks for the additional information. So, it is actually the antivirus update that does not work. Is this happening since you installed ZA? Or ZA was working correctly before? If it was working before, do you know what you have done from when your ZA was working correctly to the day it did no work anymore? Any new software install? Are you running other security tools? Adware, Spybot, other antivirus software. Did you changed any ZA settings? How do you connect to the internet? Router? Modem? 3G? Wireless? etc...

    More information you provide more likely other users here will be able to guess the origin of the problem.

    Hi Fax,
    Update was working fine as far as I know until end of August, then stopped. Around that time I installed a few Adobe updates, something from You Send It and, maybe this is significant, something from check point software technologies Ltd which is to do with the Zone Alarm I guess. I recently renewed my subscription I'm just wondering if something in their central database doesn't know that yet. I don't have any other antivirus software running and I am connected by wireless.

    OK, thanks again.

    Assuming it may be an issue with ZA the first thing you should try is to fully reset the ZA settings. They may got corrupted on the way.

    Go to ZA interface --> tools --> preferences --> Reset to defaults . Reboot the PC.

    Any better now? if not, we should try a full removal, clean and reinstall. Next would be to exclude third party software (e.g. could you send it altered any internet settings? Proxy? etc...)

    I tried this and got the message 'There was an error saving your changes' I think I had better reinstall.

    Reinstall fixed it.
