    Default Bad Upgrade Problem with ZA Security Suite 10.2.078.000

    I was having a problem with 10.1.079.000 performing unscheduled scans and using a too much processing capacity. Technical help advised an update to 10.2.078.000, which I downloaded and installed. Unfortunately when I rebooted ZA never got further than "initialization" and slowed the computer down so much that I could not do anything, not even open task manager. I also got several dialogue windows about TrueVector needing to close. Also I could not connect to the internet. I tried reinstalling, but to no avail. I even restored PC to an earlier date and reinstalled, but that did not make any difference.

    In the end I had to restore the PC back to an earlier date and reinstall version 10.1.079.000 and then everything was hunky dory ( although I did get a warning about installing an older version over the newer). Anyone had a similar problem? Windows XP SP3.

    Hi;

    This sounds like a Bad, incomplete Install or Conflict with other 3rd party software?

    Try this proceedure..

    Follow these instructions Below to clean your computer of the old version or bad install and any conflicting 3rd party Security programs, then install a clean new copy of the current version of ZA 10.2.081.000

    The instruction for a clean install are below,

    1. Download the latest version http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en...download-b.htm
    <== click here

    2. Remove your current ZA version (in XP use Windows add/remove programs)

    3. Remove other security tools installed. Use http://www.appremover.com/ to double check no left overs are present.

    4. Clean your system and registry with the Free Ccleaner.exe
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim <= click here

    to double check no ZA left overs are present.
    now reboot computer after running ZA Removal tool.
