Default Update message in both spanish and english

    Hi there,

i just recieved a message saying to download a new firewall update.

i didn't trust it because the selection icons at the bottom are written in Spanish.

at first it appeared while i was on the net but every time i perform an anti-virus update it pops up.

is this a legit message from check point?

Sorry all user here but please:
Right click the ZA icon near the clock ---> about --> copy to clipboard --> paste it here.

So, at least we know exactly what ZA are you running and if needs update.

    Thanks,

    Angry ? Bogus update

I have gotten a pop-up message claiming to be from Check Point stating that my "free" version of ZoneAlarm is not adequate and that I can get a free upgrade by clicking on "Update Free Firewall". To begin with, I do NOT have a free version. I pay for my subscription and it is registered.

Since there are no clickable links on the pop-up except (I am assuming. because I didn't try it) the "Update Free Firewall" button and because some of the text is in spanish/latin, I believe it is bogus. If it is real, I apologize for wasting your time.

    Hello;

    I agree with Guru Fax..

1.) Please Give the Exact Type and version of Zone Alarm used, Windows Version & SP Update used,
What Language Version of Windows and ZA? (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish)

2.) When do you see this Pop-up message?

a.) on your computer when ZA is checking for AV definition update? Product update?

b.) or only when you login to the Zone Alarm User Forum?

NOTE: The More information you post the more likely users here will be able to understand the issue and try to help.

I use Windows 7, 64 bit. Updates are current. Language versions are English. I can't tell you when the pop-up appears because I leave the computer on 24/7. When I interupt the screen-saver it is there. So far it has happened twice.

I took a picture of it w/ my cellphone camera and if I can figure out how to sent it, I will. The link for sending an image requires a URL and doesn't allow for uploading that I can see.

I guess they turned ON the autoupdate for old ZA 10 builds. So, it was only turned ON for old version 9. This specific information can only be given by ZA staff (we are all users here). The official ZA technical support is at the link in my signature.

Considering anyway you are running a very old ZA build 10, it is good you update to the latest that contains several improvements both in terms of usability and protection.

    The safest procedure is to:

    1. Download the latest version that you find here: http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en...e-download.htm (choose your product from the list)
    2. Remove your OLD ZA from windows 7 --> Control Panel --> Uninstall a programs
    3. Reboot the PC
    4. Turn ON windows firewall (it will be disabled as soon as you install the new version)
    5. Run the installer in point 1, it will download the right components for your system and install.

    Done.

In case you are running other security tools it may be good to remove them and install them back only after you have double checked that ZA works as it should.

    Thanks,
    Fax
