Default BSOD - Zone Alarm Firewall - 110.000.018

    I am using win7 professional - 64 bit.

I have used Zone Alarm Free Firewall for years without any problems. Yesterday I installed the latest version and started getting the following BSOD messages every few minutes:

    IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE Error: 0x000004A

Since that was the only change I made I uninstalled Zone Alarm and the problem has not come back since. I am now using another firewall but would prefer to go back to Zone Alarm if someone can tell me what to do about the BSOD problems. Maybe I will just wait for the next release of ZA and try that.

    Hello,

We would need full dumps and logs from the BSOD so that Development could possibly address the issue in a later release.

Without the data it probably wont get fixed.

    So reinstall Free ZA.

Goto Start > All Programs > Check Point > ZoneAlarm >
    Run the ZoneAlarm Diagnostic Tool

Check all the boxes in the Logging section
Check the box to Enable all crash dump generation.

    Click OK
You will then need to reboot your PC for the changes to take effect.

After you rebooted do what ever you need to do to make the BSOD to happen again. This time full dumps will be written out and the BSOD will take longer to go away.

After you reboot open the ZA diag tool and click the collect data button
Input your email address, in the case number field type: forumbsod

Slide the collection level to the far right to More Data.
    Click the OK button.

Logs and dumps will be collected and uploaded to development.

After you received a successful message of completion come back to this thread and post you completed it.

    thanks,

I tried sending you the diagnostic data that you requested but I don't know if it was successful. I left my computer while it was transmitting the data and when I came back there was another BSOD. If I don't get your confirmation that you received the data, I will repeat it at the next BSOD.

Looks like we got it. Although it does seem to be on the small side.

Just to verify when you ran the diagtool for the first time and check all the boxes, you clicked the Ok button. then got a prompt to reboot and you manually rebooted your PC before continuing?

Yes. I checked all boxes, clicked ok and rebooted. Checking it now it seems that the 'enable all anti-virus logging box doesn't stay checked but I did check it. I only have the ZA firewall and use MMSE for anti-virus. It said that there was 102400 KB of data to upload. Nothing much was going on at the time of the BSOD. I don't have to be doing anything to cause a BSOD and I can't make it happen purposely.

Ok thank you for the response. We will have development look at the logs.
