Lightbulb Is ZoneAlarm messing with my new iTunes?

    Hi Guys,
I'm trying to work out what is messing with my new dl of iTunes Version 11.01.12.

I am running the latest version of ZA Internet Security and XP (SP3).

Ever since I tried to start the iTunes App it opens up yet when I try to fully connect (after it accepts my Login) it shows and error message and asks to close down. The old App worked perfectly.

When I go to the Apple Support page for Windows & iTunes they want to blame 'Firewalls' http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1379
    They even say....
The following iTunes Store Internet addresses should be added as trusted domains to any filtering software that may be running:
    • itunes.apple.com
    • ax.itunes.apple.com
    • albert.apple.com
    • gs.apple.com

Is my ZoneAlarm stopping me from fully accessing the iTunes Store?
Is there a setting I should change or somehow allow the above addresses access through ZoneAlarm?

Any help or solutions would be great as I'm currently really frustrated looking for a solution.

    Thanks is Advance
    Cheers
    MrT

Also just tried to see if it was a Winsock issue http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123 and it's not.

There is a similar issue here on our board but the guy is using a ZA Free Firewall. I am not.

    Adding to the Trusted Zone

See if this helps under the following.

[ To add to a Host or Site to the trusted Zone ] :

    http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/in...sted_zone.html

Thanks, but how do I covert these Domains to IP Addresses?
ZoneAlarm is rejecting these as they are as Domains.

    • itunes.apple.com
    • ax.itunes.apple.com
    • albert.apple.com
    • gs.apple.com

    1. Select COMPUTER | Advanced Firewall| View Zones.

    2. Click Add, then select Host/Site.The Add Host/Site dialog appears.

    3. Select Trusted from the Zones drop-down list.

    4. Type the fully qualified host name in the Host name field.

    5. Type a description of the host/site, then click OK.

This is an example. In #4 for Host name enter albert.apple.com and #5 for Description you could call it iTunes or what ever you like to call it.

Then click on Lookup tab.It should return 17.149.240.70 <--actual IP address. Then click OK.

Do the same for the others.

    Thanks Sky,
First up let me thank you for showing me how to allow other sites past the ZoneAlarm Firewall. Your steps were clear and concise. Cheers.

The reason I first popped over here was because Apple currently are trying to blame everyone but themselves for their new iTunes release (v11) to Windows users. I've done everything I can, with your help and the knowledge base at Apple. My old App under XP ran fine. The new one crashes everytime. Windows users using all PC OS versions are complaining too.

I just wanted to eliminate if it was a ZA Firewall issue. Obviously it is not. It's an Apple issue.

Here's a snapshot of unhappy PC iTunes users... https://discussions.apple.com/commun...ew=discussions

So thanks again Sky We now know that ZoneAlarm's Forum answers questions quicker than Apple! lol

I expect Apple to release another supposed fix soon.

    Cheers
