    Default [Solved] ZA Pro Antivirus / Antispyware updates fail ? ->Corrupted Download

    My newly installed ZA pro can't update the AV signatures.
    Every time I try to run a manual update, the process posts an error.
    " updates failed "

    My connection is fine--- and I had the free version before this, it worked fine.
    All other programs have no problem--- am I going to have to reinstall ??
    Windows XP SP3 --all updates

    Sounds like the ZA database are corrupted. ZA databases contains the settings governing the functioning of ZA.

    ZA database can get corrupted for many different reasons including but not only:

    - PC hangs or crash recently;
    - Forced or incomplete shutdown;
    - Conflits with other tools installed imparing the saving of settings;
    - Malware infections.

    Granting you are not trying to remove active "network" type of entry (not possible to remove) the rest will be fixed by resetting the ZA settings or reinstalling ZA.

    To reset the ZA settings you will need to go to Tools --> Preferences --> Push on the button "reset to defaults" --> Reboot the PC.
    You will loose all your customised choices.

    *** Note: If still you have problems then you could simple remove ZA (from XP add/remove programs) and install it again.

    OK thanks-- giving the reset a try... if it doesn't work. I'll just reinstall.

    OK-- I reset to defaults, rebooted, and tried a manual update.
    That failed again-- but when I looked at my toolbar--an icon was there saying "update in progress"
    I went to help / about --and these are the current updates installed :

    ZoneAlarm with Antivirus version: 11.0.000.020
    ZoneAlarm license key:
    Vsmon version: 11.0.000.020
    Driver version: 11.0.000.020
    Antivirus engine version: 8.3.0.13
    Antivirus signature DAT file version: 1083908896
    ZoneAlarm Browser Security: 1.5.393.18
    ZoneAlarm ForceField Spyware Scanner: 1.2.104.0

    are they the most current ??

    I don't understand why a manual update fails-- and an auto-update works ?

    I have Antivirus signature DAT file version: 1098674688

    Do you get any type of Error message when Manually Updating the AV?

    Yes-- I get :

    error: signature updates failed
    and
    error: program updates failed

    OK,

    If you tried Reseting Database to Default settings and Rebooted the computer, with no success, then Tried a Clean Uninstall of ZA Pro..
    then a Clean Reinstall of ZA Pro and did not restore any saved setting
    and still get the same Update Error..

    1.) the Only other possible cause may be a Conflict with other Security Programs installed as these programs may be conflicting with Zone Alarm.

    2.) Conflict with possible Malware

    OK I ran MBAM --full scan --nothing.
    Un/reinstalled ZA pro.
    Still no updates--
    Ran FULL scan --with Zone Alarm --nothing
    Looked at your suggested methods & ran Super Anti Spyware-- full scan. Found lots of tracking cookies--and 1 Trojan

    Trojan.agent/Gen-Kazy

    Removed it with SAS (I hope)
    Got ONE manual update to work.(out of about 3 <sigh> )

    Any other suggestions ?

    Ok,

    1.) are you still getting the same "error: signature updates failed"

    2.) you never said where you ever had any other Security programs installed?
    even if not active, or disabled?

    3. Remove other security tools installed. Use http://www.appremover.com/ to double check no left overs are present.

    4. Clean your system and registry with the Free Ccleaner.exe
