    Question anti-virus update: "Task error"> ZA 7 & windows 2000 no longer Supported

    my zonealarm internet security suite won't connect and download new definitions.

    This started occurring Dec 8, 2012.

    Removed and reinstalled today. Still wont do antivirus updates.

    Update will get anti-spyware definitions.

    Got This Message in the logs:

    Hi!

    Its unclear the version of ZA you are using as there is no separate anti-spyware definitions.

    Please right click the ZA icon near the clock --> about --> Copy to clipboard --> Paste it here. Please remove the license key if appears.

    When posting to a public user board ensure to provide as much as details as possible. This will help other users to identify the problem. Have you installed anything recently? Been infected by malware? Which exact version of the OS are you using? Do you run any other security/registry/virtual machines tools? Running any proxy settings? Change anything on your router or modem? Can you connect to ZA home page?

    What is the host name for the ZA AV server?,

    Sorry the version of ZA you are using is not anymore supported, version 7 goes back to 2008. There are also no versions of ZA supposing windows 2000 (not even Microsoft).

    You will need to find an antivirus that will support your OS. No idea which one. You may want to try Google and search for it.

    Good day.

    I too am having the same issue and am using ver 7.0 from 2009, but my system is XP Pro SP3. Are you saying that this ZA is no longer supported after just 3-4 years? Seems a bit short lived.

    Is there no immediate upgrade? If so, what's involved?

    Hi;

    I agree with Guru Fax;

    1.)

    Note: you will get no support what so ever from Checkpoint at all if you have a problem with older ZA Versions.

    Support will tell you to Upgrade to the latest ZA version before they even begin to help you.

    Unfortunately, Newer versions of ZoneAlarm No longer Supports your very old Windows 2000 OS

    Keep your Computer up to date with Latest Updates, Computers are Expensive pieces of equipment. For the same reasons that you lock your home and car (to keep others out), you need to have some type of latest version of a Firewall & Antivirus protection on your computer. There is an Arms race out there between Malware producers and Antivirus software producers. and the War Escalates Hourly.
    2.) Download latest version of ZoneAlarm

    Sorry, I've been in the hospital since Dec 19 2012 and was just released today on a non-zonealarm issue.

    What I was able to determine is that [zonealrm] Firewall was Blocking access of the zaupdate program to [what were] the Zonealarm Antivirus Download Sever(s) by hostnames

    The servers upd.zonealarm.com, upd.zonelabs.com were what worked in Nov.

    What are the current download servers if anyone knows?

    Were sorry version 7 is not supported. You cannot get support for it on this forum. That includes AV updates.

    You must find another AV/Security solution that supports your old OS.
