    Default Issues with ZA Antivirus 10.2.074.000 Software Update Notifications

    I am running ZA Pro Anti Virus + Firewall with Vista. My ZA is v 10.2.074.000

    When I do update it shows software as up to date even though there are 4 later versions - latest being 11.0.000.038. Why is this happening??

    When I queried this with ZA Technical Support I was advised:
    Right now the "cfu" or the Check for updates server is not currently on.
    The missing updates go back to August 2012 - almost 5 months ago -

    sorry to hear your problems unfortunately we are all users here, no ZA support. So, it make no use posting this here.

    If you want to update just download the latest version from here:
    Looking for the latest version?

    and install it. If you want to be sure no problems will arise please remove your current version before installing the new.

    A quick look in the Helpful Hints and Links section would have provided answers to both of your Questions..

    1.) Sticky: "When will the Next Zone Alarm be made Available?"

    The trouble is that the information given is incorrect, viz:

    "Checkpoint slowly update the user base (to prevent Over loading our Servers) so you may not get an update right away, even though some other users have." etc, etc


    I understand this as a reasonable principle, BUT

    The update servers have been switched off for 5 months!!!
    This is not a controlled release to prevent overloading ZA servers.

    Is true when the automatic update service has been turned on.

    As you have pointed out it has not been turned on for some time now.

    The support dept is not involved, responsible or has any way to turn this on. This functionality is controlled and dealt with by several other groups in the ZoneAlarm product family at Check Point.

    I have no response to give you why its not been turned on and I'm sorry for that.
    Support also does not have a response to that either.

    I have forwarded on your comments to the groups who control the automatic update system so there aware of how you feel as a paid user.

    Thank you for your response.

    I do hope that something is done urgently.

    The update process on the PC is very misleading because it reports that the software is up to date.

    If I have paid for a ZA Licence I consider that ZA should have a process to advise me of software updates. To switch off the software update servers and not tell the customer is irresponsible. As part of the installation process we give an email address to kept informed by ZA. Surely this email address should be used to advise that sotware update servers have been switched off - and to advise the reasons.

    I hope that the Forum Moderator will take on this issue and ensure that it is remedied.
