Thread: isn't license key for the computer?

    Default isn't license key for the computer?

    I created a guest account today and zonealarm said license was expired.
    Tried to enter new license key (cut and pasted) and it claimed it was invalid. The chat with support was frustrating. He said that ZAX does not support guest account - what the heck???? Can this be right? I thought that the license was for the computer. In the past on other computers, I had multiple users and never a problem.

    Hello;

    Sorry ZA does not support windows "Guest" account.
    Moreover its a security risk to use the guest user.
    Normally the "guest" account should be disabled. Just create a new limited user account instead.

    You must login to the PC with the Administrators account, install ZA enter the key, setup ZA the way you like, then make sure everything is properly working.

    If you installed ZA using anything less than an administrator account, or are logged in using the PC with ZA with anything less than an administrator account this has been known to cause this issue.

    So don't use Guest or anything else but admin accounts when installing and updating ZA on your particular PC.

    b. For security reasons, ZoneAlarm is not supported on system guest accounts.

    As recommeded, I will remove the guest account and create a limited access account instead. It was the first time since I had my new laptop (over 2 years now) that I ever had a need for such a thing.

    Thank you!

    Hello,

    You cannot install ZA and enter a license key using a Limited account.

    You must login to the PC with the administrators account install ZA enter the key, setup ZA they way you like make sure everything is properly working.

    Then create Limited user accounts. ZA will protect those accounts but making changes to ZA of any kind with the limited accounts may not work and is not supported by ZoneAlarm.
