Exclamation UPDATE: What is Trojan.Win32.Hosts2.gen / hosts file a malware?

    Hello guys,

When I downloaded the new update today I made a scan and it showed me at the below hosts file which one is malware. Yesterday I turned off before I even made a scan everything was normal. Today, suddenly was a virus. I have 3 PC's on the updates and scan done and it came out all the same. I suspect that it is a false positive message. I ask for enlightenment?

ps.:I used Zone Alarm Extreme Secuirty! The log file is Trojan.Win32.Hosts2.gen?

I've done something clever. The problem also kaspersky today. It would probably be a false positive message. Kaspesky should respond as more sensitive. ZoneAlarm uses indeed the Kaspersky antivirus engine is also in the same problem there, and the same message.

ZoneAlarm believes this is a false positive created by a recent AV definition update.
We are in touch with our AV vendor to resolve this issue ASAP.

There are a few legitimate applications that do modify the host table such as Spybot S&D and AV is flagging it as an issue which it didn't do before a recent AV update today.

Thats why we are reporting it to our AV vendor as a false positive. We have to wait to see what they respond with as a fix.

    Update:

The problem has been found and a new AV definition update will go out in 2 hours to fix the false positive issue.

If I have deleted file (and removed from quarantine) as a result of the virus being "found" - will any damage have been done to my system.

    Please advise.
