Thread: Port blocking?

  1. #1

    Default Port blocking?

Returned to fully patched XP SP3 after a while on a dual-boot with Win7 to find ZA free not allowing access to http, only to https and port 2082 (dedicated server port). ZA is 11.0.000.038. Cannot find anything in the control panel to help. Any ideas? Is this another M$ update issue?

Probably you face broken settings, reset them.

Thought the same, but had made no changes AND did a fresh install - is that not enough?

Just to clarify, if you exit ZA (right click the ZA icon near the clock --> exit), wait a couple of minutes. Turn ON windows firewall. Test it again. Does it work?

Sorry, fax - should have said - I had reverted to Win firewall earlier because of this problem and all 'normal' there. ZA still runs fine in Win7, incidentally.

If it is an issue with ZA the steps below should solve otherwise it may be an issue with the configuration of the PC. Btw, note that ZA does not support (and never did) dual boot configurations. This may be an explanation your problem.

    1. Open your control panel select the Add remove programs / Program and Features

    2. If any of the following have been installed, uninstall them.
    - ZoneAlarm
    - ZoneAlarm toolbar
    - Do Not Track

    3. Download and run our clean up utility from:
    http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...load/clean.exe

    4. Download the ZA free build 54 and install:

    - Free Firewall: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...10_000_054.exe

    - Free AV +Firewall: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...10_000_054.exe

Don't think the dual boot would suddenly be a problem after 5 years? I see the version you suggest is .054 which is newer. Will try. Thanks. If no joy, back to Windows firewall!

Well, this time it seems ok, following your processes. I have installed .057 this time. All was well following install. I am now currently in Win7 and will (fingers crossed) see what is happening back in XP later.

    Thanks for the help.

actually yes as ZoneAlarm isn't compatible with dual boot systems according to support.
