    Default Help, I think my ZoneAlarm Free Firewall stopped working...

    I have a Windows 7 computer and I noticed that ZoneAlarm hasn't blocked any intrusions for the last 2 days, is that normal? Just as a precaution I set all my firewall settings to high and I noticed it blocked incoming and outgoing traffic to my own ip address. Any help would be appreciated.

    Assuming you are free of viruses or malware and that you are using a good security tool then most likely you are experiencing ZA broken settings.

    Two option (option 2 should be the preferred).

    1. Reset the ZA settings in ZA tools --> Preferences --> Reset to default --> Reboot the PC

    2. Start clean by removing ZAfree and install the latest version (11.0.000.504) you find here:

    (yes, ZA autoupdate only warn users of major updates)

    Is it difficult to uninstall Zonealarm free firewall or do I need to install an Uninstaller?

    It is easy to do a clean uninstall of ZA Free..

    Try this:

    Remove ZA from windows control panel "uninstall a programs" (WIN7/WIN8)

    or "add/remove programs" (XP), reboot the PC.
    Then, download, save to desktop and run the ZA removal tool: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...load/clean.exe and reboot the PC.

    Turn ON windows firewall, download the latest build of ZA according to the specific version you purchased, here: Looking for the latest version? <= click here then Install the new ZA Free v11.0.000.504 that you downloaded and saved to your desktop.

    Thanks for your help. I noticed in the new version of Zonealarm free firewall that it's asking me to change my internet explorer homepage to Zonealarm and I can't proceed without letting it change it. Would my google chrome homepage be affected as well?

    That was a problem with an older version of ZA Free 11.0.000.057

    I Recommend that you install ZA Free ver. 11.0.000.504..

    Ok I installed the latest Zonealarm free firewall and it's still not blocking anything. I did a virus sweep and I couldn't find anything using Avast. Is my laptop messed up?

    Not blocking can be perfectly normal, if, for example, you connect to internet via a modem doing NAT or a router. Just detail what you see exactly as IP addresses under the ZA firewall Zones and the mystery may be solved. Even tough ISP can even filter at source.
