    Angry [SOLVED] Problem with latest ZA Fee firewall upgrade.

    I have been using the Zone Alarm free firewall for many years now and have been very satisfied with its performance.
    I recently received an invite to download the latest version of ZA free firewall and downloaded it. Since then my computer regularly freezes and a power off re-boot is the only option. I have now disabled ZA at startup and all is well, as clearly I could not continue with it in that state.
    I am using Avast security software too, but so far I have not had any interaction problems. Any thoughts please?

    Probably just a bad upgrade. Try a clean install as detailed below:

    1. Re-download the latest version of ZAfree from here: Looking for the latest version?
    Watch out to choose the right installer, i.e. ZAfree WITHOUT the antivirus

    2. Remove you current ZA from your OS control panel (add/remove programs in XP, Uninstall an application in WIN7 or WIN8).

    3. Reboot the PC

    4. Turn ON Windows firewall if off (ZA will take care of turning it off once installed).

    5. Download and save to the desktop the ZA removal tool:

    6. Run the ZA removal tool

    7. Reboot the PC

    8. Install the latest version ZAfree you downloaded from point 1.

    I have followed your instructions and all is now restored to normal operation. I can't remember if the email advising of an upgrade gave me the option to upgrade without virus checker, but will be aware of this next time. thanks again. mm41
