Default [SOLVED] Unusual Network Added --> Oracle Virtual Machine

I have just updated my ZAFree to the latest update. My local network is 192.168.1.0 and LAN is 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.50
BUT looking at the Zones in the ZA updated version is see another grayed out zone called 192.168.56.0, this is grayed out so I cannot delete it. I do not have a *.*.56.0 network so where has it come from. Any ideas.

Welcome to the Zone Alarm User Forum..

Probably just a bad upgrade. Try a clean install as detailed below:

    1. Re-download the latest version of ZA free from here: Looking for the latest version?

Watch out to choose the right installer, i.e. ZA free WITHOUT the antivirus

    2. Remove you current ZA from your OS control panel (add/remove programs in XP, Uninstall an application in WIN7 or WIN8).

    3. Reboot the PC

    4. Turn ON Windows firewall if off (ZA will take care of turning it off once installed).

    5. Download and save to the desktop the ZA removal tool:
    http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...load/clean.exe

    6. Run the ZA removal tool

    7. Reboot the PC

    8. Now Install the latest ZA version from point 1.
without touching any default settings, and
Do Not Restore Saved Settings from the old install.

    Thanks,

    GeorgeV

    Thanks George
I have followed your instructions and the problem persists. I also deleted any registry entries using regedit, there were a couple of old ones. Used default install. Unusual network still there. see file attached.

Its not by magic that the network is displayed in that section. If it is visible in ZA it means it has been allowed in the system (Microsoft windows), cannot be there otherwise. Can be hardware or anything connected to the PC (console, printer, etc...).

In the network and sharing center (depending on the windows used) you should be able to see it too. May be windows system information may give some clue?

Probably you may want to use third party tools to have a better clue of the activities by that address with TCP view? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb897437.aspx

Also from the screenshot provided it seems you have altered default settings? Where is the default DHCP entry? Did you perform a clean install also by running clean.exe? Did you install with an active internet connection?

    Maybe this might help also.

    Windows Command Line Utility

start -> cmd (run as admin)

Type the following at the command prompt :

ipconfig /all = gives you all the information.

ipconfig /? gives you all the command parameters.

You can do web search on ipconfig /all for more information.

yes, last reply seems not to have been posted. I did the above and found the network to be related to oracle virtual machine software that I have installed. So its all cool now.
