Angry ZoneAlarm Free And WiMax wireless adapter > install without touching any defaults

Installed Zone Alarm free again 110.000.504 And It cannot detect Wimax wireless adapter by Virgin www.virginmobileusa.com USB 600
It the network Zone All I can see is that ZA has Sub mask and IP protected/added!?? However I do not see an inbound blocked events!! .......Using Win XP and all settings are set to the MAX! If testing the firewall on grc.com then the firewall keeps on blocking and logging everthing! However, the firewall is unable to see the network traffic! Under network connections/properties theres no ZA driver installed and I cannot find it and install in manually!?

    Hello;

Based on the Limited info you have provided,

You could try Removing Zone Alarm, Remove your current ZA version (in XP use Windows add/remove programs)

Install the latest ZA version 11.0.000.504 without touching any default settings,
and Do Not Restore Saved Settings from the old install.

Sorry all users here. From the few messages you have posted in the last few weeks you seem to have several problems with ZA and your PC. Probably better to find a different Firewall that support your configuration rather then insisting on a free Firewall that does not work on your setup.

Sorry again, but It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer from halfway across the Country, or around the World,
without All the Details about your computer it's Software and Configuration that you failed to provide, without our ability to sit in front of your Computer monitor and see what's going on..

    In any case
, ZA will support any device if this uses the native windows wireless zero configuration (This is very limited in XP).

If you use proprietary software to run the adapter then most likely this is not compatible with ZA. So, most likely this is your problem as, for example, I have no issue with steam on my computer. All runs fine.

So good luck searching for another Free Firewall that better fits your needs.

I have seen you have also posted the same here:
    http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r283...-t-protect-me-

Just follow what those users have suggested/requested. Its good practice to provide feedback on open thread in which users tried to help

Btw, no feedback given on this open thread:
    https://www.zonealarm.com/forums/sho...-HLauncher-exe

Try to keep related issues in the same thread no use to open multiple thread on issue with your adapter. As already suggested you may need to look for another free firewall since you have difficulties understanding it and setting up correctly.

    Thanks,

Your are confused in the above statement.

A network adapter driver is software used by your computer to communicate with your wireless network adapter. Outdated, incompatible, or corrupted network adapter drivers can prevent network connections or cause intermittent disconnections.

Here are three ways to find and install a driver:

Use Windows Update. You might need to set Windows Update to automatically download and install recommended updates. Installing any important, recommended, and optional updates can update system features and other software that might help to fix your network connection problems.

Install software from the device manufacturer. For example, if your computer or network adapter came with a disc, that disc might contain software that installs a driver for the network adapter.

Download and install the driver yourself. You can search for a driver on the manufacturer's website. Try this if Windows Update can't find a driver for your network adapter and the adapter didn't come with software that installs a driver.

Sorry, Have no other suggestions to offer.See post #3

Also I think you are confused on what you should see in the ZA firewall zone... as already pointed out at dslreport, you will not see the card listed in the ZA firewall zone but the IP range(s) the card is working with.

If you see under the ZA zone an entry in which in the column "entry type" reads "Network" then that is your wireless card.

If you are coming back to post clarification or questions please post exactly what you see under the ZA firewall zone. Complete information will help understand if you have a problem or just you misunderstood how ZA works.
