    Default ZoneAlarm Pro -- Application Control -- Antivirus Definitions

    Hello!
    My Antivirus (MSE) updates about twice-per-day;
    and Every Single Time it updates, it places the Antivirus Definition Update EXE as (Yet Another) Application in the Application Control List (of Firewall Pro) (each Definition Exe is nearly identical except for the ending Definition Number).

    Is there any way to prevent these from constantly accumulating in my Application Control list? For example, could I place an asterisk (wildcard character) where the ending Definition Number is?

    Thank you,

    Chuck

    Not that I am aware of. Having multiple items in ZA application control is normal and has no impact whatsoever on ZA operation or operation of the PC.

    Thanks,

    Thank you. One extension to that question::
    Each time it adds another entry for my Antivirus Definitions, ALL of the Columns for the new entry Equal "?". Will these Auto-Non-Trust Settings have any effect on the Firewall's allowance of these Definition updates?

    Thanks again!

    No impact, Microsoft certified applications are automatically allowed.

    There may be something you can do BUT it will make your PC vulnerable if the Update application is ever compromised.

    Select the program and click the Options button then you can check the box that says Program Changes Frequently.

    This should allow this application every time its updated so you don't have to answers the questions.

    But if someone were to somehow create a threat using the same file name and getting it on your PC somehow then ZA would just allow it to run.
