This page ~~Snip~~ pops up if I leave my computer unattended for just a few minutes. It seems it is related to my homepage being hijacked: if I open a new tab in Chrome the URL is blank, but the page shows icons for Facebook, Twitter, and other common applications; it is clearly not my usual Google home page. None of this is by choice.

I understand this may be a malware attack, but I don't know what to do about it. Please, help me make it go away.

Please follow all the steps as suggested here below:

Malware Clean-up Guidance <= click Here

If one step does not apply to you then move to the next.

If everything else fails I would post your logs at Bleepingcomputer to have your system cleaned manually.

Done as instructed up to but not including the rescue disk or bootable CD.

First, through the four scans, more than 400 issues were detected, but most of those (375) were at SuperAntiVirus. If I'm paying ZoneAlarm to protect me, what gives?

Second, even after deleting ALL of the suspicious files, the malware seems to be here just as before.

Q1. If I restore my computer to factory default (it's not that old that I couldn't do it), would that take care of this issue?

Q2. If that's not going to work, how certain are you that the ZA Rescue Disk or bootable CD is going to be successful. I'm not very patient with computer issues.

Thank you for your help ... I hope to get this resolved when I return from a business trip in a few days.

Thank you for your Feedback on how you are resolving your issue?

It is Sometimes very Difficult to Diagnose and fix a Computer without All the Details about your computer it's Software and what type and Version of Zone Alarm that you failed to provide..

If I'm paying ZoneAlarm to protect me, what gives?

I'm Sorry, but You have not provided any information in you previous post, to let us know if you using one of the FREE Zone Alarm Versions, or one of the 4 Paid versions or whether you have installed one of the Old outdated versions of Zone Alarm..

You always have to check which detections those tools are identifying. If you look closer those detections will be "cookies" not malware or viruses!

Let's see if I can respond through my phone without screwing up.

First, I appreciate your help. I am frustrated at the situation, not you. I have little patience for computer issues, but that's my problem and I acknowledge that.

I downloaded the latest version of Extreme Security today, but have been using a slightly outdated version since I renewed some time ago. I had an earlier version 11.

Yes, many of the found issues were cookies, but there were six or so malware issues too.

I have a Dell computer running Windows 7.

If more information is needed, please let me know.

I will be away from that home desk computer until Tuesday evening.

    Again, thanks for your help.

Just follow ALL suggestions already given including having your system checked at bleeping computer (or similar) and if not happy with that please follow up directly to official support (all users here) at the link in my signature, it's free for registered users like you. Look for the live chat icon at the main support site.

Yes, malware... most likely dead entries or registry left overs or false positives. Remember to read well the post "XYZ was not dete...." That is, keep your PC updated and use some common sense and mind to read ZA pop-ups. No security tool can cover 100% of malware out there.

As we said all we could say about the issue I will soon close this thread. Do no hesitate to PM me in case you need to re-open this thread.

    Thanks,
